국문 초록

연구목적: 본 연구의 목적은 어머니의 과보호적 양육태도와 초기 청소년의 사회불안 간 의 관계에서 기본심리욕구 만족의 매개효과와 적응적 인지적 정서조절 전략의 수준에 따른 매개효과의 차이를 알아보기 위한 조절된 매개효과를 살펴보는 것이다. 연구방법: 본 연구는 부산시와 김해시에 거주하며 초등학교 5, 6학년에 재학 중인 초기 청소년 210명을 대상으로 진행되었다. 어머니의 과보호적 양육태도, 청소년의 사회불안, 기본심리욕구 만족 및 적응적 인지적 정서조절 전략은 자기보고식 질문지를 통해 측정 되었다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 30.0과 PROCESS macro Model 4, 1, 7을 통해 Pearson 상관분석, 매개효과, 조절효과, 조절된 매개효과 분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과: 첫째, 어머니의 과보호적 양육태도가 초기 청소년의 사회불안에 미치는 인과 적 과정에서 기본심리욕구 만족의 매개효과가 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 적응적 인 지적 정서조절 전략은 어머니의 과보호적 양육태도와 초기 청소년의 기본심리욕구 만족 간의 관계를 조절하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 적응적 인지적 정서조절 전략 수준에 따라, 어머니의 과보호적 양육태도가 초기 청소년의 기본심리욕구 만족을 통해 사회불안에 미치는 간접효과가 달라지는 것으로 조절된 매개효과가 유의하게 나타났다. 결론: 적응적 인지적 정서조절 전략 수준에 따라 어머니의 과보호적 양육태도와 초기 청소년의 사회불안 간의 관계에서 기본심리욕구 만족의 매개효과가 다르게 나타났다. 적응적 인지적 정서조절 전략 수준이 높은 경우에는 어머니의 과보호적 양육태도로 사회 불안을 겪는 초기 청소년 자녀를 둔 어머니를 대상으로 과보호적 양육태도를 지양하고, 완화할 수 있도록 돕는 교육이 필요하다. 반면, 적응적 인지적 전략 수준이 평균 이하인 초기 청소년의 경우에는 어머니를 대상으로 과보호적 양육태도의 지양에 대한 교육뿐만 아니라 이에 따른 초기 청소년의 기본심리욕구 만족의 증가 과정을 도모함으로써 사회 불안 완화의 과정이 이루어져야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

Objective: This study aimed to examine the moderated mediation effect in the relationship between maternal overprotective parenting and adolescents’ social anxiety, with basic psychological need satisfaction as a mediator and adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies as a moderator. Methods: The participants were 210 early adolescents in the 5th and 6th grades of elementary schools residing in Busan and Gimhae, South Korea. Maternal overprotective parenting, adolescents’ social anxiety, basic psychological need satisfaction, and adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies were measured using adolescents’ self-report questionnaires. Data wereanalyzed using SPSS 30.0 and PROCESS macro (Models 4, 1, and 7), including Pearson correlation, mediation analysis, moderation analysis, and moderated mediation analysis. Results: Basic psychological need satisfaction significantly mediated the relationship between maternal overprotective parenting and adolescents’ social anxiety. Adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies moderated the relationship between maternal overprotective parenting and basic psychological need satisfaction. The indirect effect of maternal overprotective parenting on adolescents’ social anxiety, mediated by basic psychological need satisfaction differed based on the level of adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies. Conclusions: The mediating effect of basic psychological need satisfaction in the relationship between maternal overprotective parenting and adolescents’ social anxiety varied according to the level of adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies. For adolescents with a high level of adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies, providing interventions that help mothers reduce and refrain from overprotective parenting is important to alleviate their children’s social anxiety. By contrast, for adolescents with average or low levels of such strategies, not only should mothers be supported in reducing overprotective parenting behaviors, but interventions should also aim to promote adolescents’ basic psychological need satisfaction as a pathway to reducing social anxiety.
