국문 초록

연구목적: 본 연구는 강점기반 접근을 토대로 유아기 자녀를 둔 아버지의 강점척도 개발 방향과 구성요인을 탐색하는데 목적이 있다. 연구방법: 긍정심리, 유아교육, 부모교육 전문가 및 부모 등 총 8명을 대상으로 포커스그룹인터뷰를 2회 실시하였으며, 면담 내용은 주제분석 방법으로 범주화하고 의미를 해석하였다. 연구결과: 유아기 자녀를 둔 아버지의 강점은 개인 내 비교를 기준으로 하는 긍정적 양육역량이며, 돌봄․놀이․훈육․생활관리 등의 실제 양육 상황에서 동적으로 발휘되는 증진 가능한 자원으로 확인되었다. 아버지 강점은 관계적, 인지적, 의지적, 중용적, 사회적, 초월적 강점의 6가지 구성요인과 37개 하위 요소로 추출되었다. 강점척도 개발 방향에 대해 전문가들은 아버지가 자신의 강점을 발견하고 긍정적 양육자원으로 활용할 수 있도록 개인 내 강점을 객관적으로 평가하는 신뢰성 있고 타당한 도구로 개발되어야 한다고 제안하였다. 문항은 핵심 양육역량을 포괄하며, 자기보고식 Likert 5점 척도로 간결하고 명확하게 구성되어 아버지의 자기성찰과 역량 강화를 지원하고 양육지원 정책 및 프로그램 개발에 활용될 수 있어야 함을 강조하였다. 결론: 본 연구는 강점기반 접근을 토대로 유아기 자녀를 둔 아버지의 강점을 체계적으로 탐색하고 강점척도의 개발 방향과 구성요인을 도출함으로써, 향후 부모교육 및 육아지원 프로그램 개발 및 관련 분야의 연구에 유의미한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

Objective: This study aimed to explore the developmental directions and components of a strength scale for fathers of children in early childhood, grounded in a strength-based approach. Methods: Two rounds of focus group interviews were conducted with a total of eight participants, including experts in positive psychology, early childhood education, and parent education, as well as parents themselves. Interview data were categorized and interpreted using thematic analysis. Results: Fathers’ strengths were identified as positive parenting competencies evaluated on the basis of intra-individual comparison and confirmed as developmental resources that can be enhanced and dynamically manifested in actual parenting situations such as caregiving, play, discipline, and daily management. Six dimensions of paternal strengths-relational, cognitive, volitional, temperance-related, social, and transcendental-were derived, along with 37 sub-factors. Regarding the development of the strength scale, experts suggested that it should be designed as a reliable and valid tool to objectively evaluate fathers’ intra-individual strengths, enabling them to discover and utilize their strengths as positive parenting resources. They further emphasized that the items should comprehensively cover core parenting competencies and be constructed in a concise and clear self-report format using a 5-point Likert scale. Conclusions: This study, derived the developmental directions and dimensions of a strength scale for fathers of children in early childhood based on a strength-based approach, potentially contributing to future research as well as the development of parent education and childcare support programs.
