국문 초록

연구목적: 본 연구는 가정 내 혼란과 부부갈등이 학령 초기 아동의 실행기능에 미치는 영향을 아동의 불안이 매개하는지 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 연구방법: 연구대상은 초등학교 1~3학년 아동을 자녀로 둔 어머니 269명으로, 어머니가 가정 내 혼란, 부부갈등, 아동의 불안 및 실행기능을 측정하는 문항에 응답하였다. 변인 간 경로를 분석하기 위해 구조방정식 모형을 설정하였으며, 간접효과의 유의성은 부트스트랩핑 방법으로 검증하였다. 연구결과: 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 가정 내 혼란과 부부갈등은 아동의 실행기능에 직접적인 영향을 미쳐, 가정 내 혼란과 부부갈등이 높을수록 아동이 낮은 수준의 실행기능을 보였다. 둘째, 가정 내 혼란과 부부갈등은 아동의 불안을 매개로 실행기능에 간접적인 영향을 미쳤다. 즉, 가정 내 혼란과 부부갈등이 높을수록 아동이 높은 수준의 불안을 경험하였고, 이는 낮은 수준의 실행기능으로 이어졌다. 이러한 간접효과는 통계적으로 유의하였다. 결론: 본 연구는 가정 내 혼란과 부부갈등이 아동의 실행기능에 미치는 영향이 아동의 불안에 의해 매개되는지 살펴봄으로써, 가정환경이 아동의 발달에 미치는 다차원적인 영향을 규명하였다는 데 의의가 있다. 이는 가정의 물리적 안정성뿐 아니라 정서적 환경이 아동의 정서 및 인지 발달에 중요한 기초가 된다는 점을 시사한다.

영문 초록

Objective: This study examined the direct effects of household chaos and interparental conflict on executive function in early school-aged children, as well as the indirect effects mediated by children’s anxiety. Methods: Participants were 269 mothers of children in the first to third grades of elementary school, who completed questionnaires. Structural equation modeling was employed to analyze the pathways among the variables, and the significance of indirect effects was tested using the bootstrapping method. Results: First, household chaos and interparental conflict had direct effects on children’s execution function, such that higher levels of household chaos and interparental conflict were associated with lower levels of executive function. Second, household chaos and interparental conflict indirectly affected executive function through children’s anxiety. Specifically, higher levels of household chaos and interparental conflict were associated with higher levels of children’s anxiety, which in turn led to lower execution function. The indirect effects were statistically significant. Conclusion: By examining both direct and anxiety-mediated pathways linking household chaos and interparental conflict to children’s executive function, this study revealed the multidimensional influence of home environment on child development. The findings suggest that, in addition to physical stability, the emotional climate of the family constitutes an important foundation for children’s emotional and cognitive development.
