장애학생지원센터 수화통역사의 수화언어 동시통역 과정 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 H대학의 장애학생지원센터에서 진행된 수화언어 동시통역 과정을 양적 측면과 질적 측면에서 분석하기 위하여 실시되었다. 연구 결과, 통역률은 93% 정도로 높은 편이었다. 문두시차(1.56초)와 문말시차(1.88초)가 음성언어 통역보다 짧았고 양자의 차이가 크지 않았다. 통역단어 비율은 108%를 나타내 수업자의 단어보다 통역사의 단어가 약간 많았지만 음성언어 통역과 비교할 때 많이 높지는 않았다. 또한 통역 휴지(0.74초)는 발화 휴지(1.02초)보다 오히려 더 짧아 음성언어 통역과 차이가 있었고, 문장당 통역사 통역시간(5.09초)은 수업자 발화시간(4.70초)보다 다소 길었다. 이 결과는 수화통역사는 음성언어 통역사와 비교할 때 상대적으로 통역에 필요한 정보처리를 문두나 휴지시간에 집중하는 것이 아니라, 통역이 진행되고 있는 문장의 중간에 집중하는 것을 나타낸다. 즉 문두와 문말에는 통역이 자동화 되어 수업자 발화 시간과 비슷하게 통역이 시작되고 종료되지만, 문장 중간에서 수업자 발화의 의미를 해석을 하면서 통역을 하는 것으로 판단된다. 수화언어 통역률은 통역단어 비율, 수업자 발화 휴지 시간과 정적 상관관계가 있었고, 수업자 분당 음절수와 부적 상관관계가 있었으며, 통역 시차와는 상관관계가 없었다. 즉 통역률은 통역단어 비율이 높을수록, 수업자 발화 휴지 시간이 길수록, 수업자 분당 음절수가 적을수록 높았다. 수화언어 통역과정을 질적으로 평가한 결과 단어 수준에서는 생략, 첨가, 대치, 왜곡, 압축․통합이 나타났고, 구나 절 수준에서는 압축․통합, 대치, 생략이 나타났다. 통역 변환 과정 중 오역된 통역도 일부 있었지만 대부분의 경우에는 수화언어의 동시적 표현 특성과 수화언어 만의 독특한 표현상의 특성을 활용한 통역으로 분석되었다.

영문 초록

This study conducted for quantitative and qualitative analysis of Korean sign language simultaneous interpretation at the college. As a result, interpretation accuracy was 93% and onset time lag(1.56sec) and end time lag(1.88sec) was short than spoken language interpretation. Target language word ratio was 108%. Target language pause time(0.74sec) was shorter than source language pause time(1.02sec) and target language time(5.09sec) was longer than source language time(4.70sec). It means that interpretation begins and ends similar to source language time by automatic interpretation at onset and end of sentence as interpretation was performed by analysing meanings of source language at the middle of sentence. Sign language interpretation accuracy had positive correlation to interpretation word ratio, speaker's pause time, but interpretation accuracy had negative correlation to syllable number per minute. Namely, interpretation accuracy was higher as interpretation word ratio and speaker's pause time was longer and his syllable number per minute was fewer. The result of quantitative analysis of the interpretation process showed that at the word level there were omission, addition, substitution, distortion and condensation․integration and at phrase or clause level there were condensation, substitution, and omission. Especially the setting of this study was education interpretation there were many additions for clear the source language meaning.
