국문 초록

본 연구는 청각장애학생의 정보수용에 중요한 TV자막방송 시청에 도움이 되는 기초자료를 얻기 위해 TV자막방송 시청시 나타나는 중도청각장애학생들의 안구운동 특징을 조사하였다. 조사대상은 농학교 중등부학생 11명과 일반학교 건청학생 2명이였다. 대상학생들의 안구운동은 방송시청부분을 영상읽기부분과 자막읽기부분으로 나누어 분석하였다. 연구 결과 대상학생들의 자막부분인 문장 및 문단읽기 시간은 전체 방송시청 시간의 30-40%였다. 또한 대상학생을 독서력 정도에 따라 세 집단으로 분류하여 그중 독서력이 높은 집단과 낮은 집단 두 집단의 시청시간 및 자막읽기시간을 분석비교를 하였다. 그 결과 독서력에 의한 두 집단간의 차이는 없으며, 마찬가지로 청각장애학생 과 건청학생의 자막읽기에 필요한 시간상의 차이도 나타나지 않았다. 일반적으로 처음에 자막을 읽고 그 다음에 제시되는 자막을 읽기까지 경과시간은 0.2-0.3초였다. 자막읽기시의 안구운동 분석을 통해 자막읽기 과정은 인쇄된 문장을 읽는과정과 유사하나 인쇄된 문장 읽기에 비해 난이도가 높은 점이 시사되었다.

영문 초록

Present study examined eye movements process when students with severe hearing impairment viewing captioned TV program. Eye movements of 11 junior high school students with severe hearing impairments and two hearing peers were recorded while they watched captioned TV programs. Their visual focus was divided into two parts; image viewing and caption reading. The ratio of caption-reading time to total reading time was 30 to 40% of total viewing time. No clear differences were found among three groups of students with higher or lower reading ability, and hearing students. The students could locate a changed new caption 0.2 to 0.3 s after its appearance on the display. An analysis of eye moments during caption reading revealed that the caption reading process was similar to that in text reading but that captions proved to be a little more difficult than printed text.
