통합교육 담당교사의 자질에 대한 특수교사와 일반교사의 인식 비교

국문 초록

본 연구는 교사 양성과정과 통합교육 담당교사 자질에 대해 특수교사와 일반교사 간 인식에 차이가 있는지 확인하려는 목적에서 진행되었다. INTASC에서 제안한 통합교사 자질에 대한 10가지 기준영역을 보기로 제시하면서 양성과정에서 이러한 영역에 대한 교육이 얼마나 잘 이루어졌다고 인식하는가와 10가지 영역에 대한 교육 필요성이 어느 정도라고 인식하고 있는지 알아보고 통합교육 담당교사의 자질로서 이러한 영역의 능력이 얼마나 중요하다고 생각하는가에 대해 159명의 특수교사와 131명의 일반교사를 대상으로 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 그 결과 이분화 된 교사 양성 체계의 특성상 교사 양성과정에서 강조되는 부분이 다르고 교사들의 교육 필요성에 대한 인식에도 차이가 있는 것이 확인되었다. 통합교육 담당교사의 자질에 대한 인식에서는 통계적으로 차이는 있었으나 특수교사와 일반교사 모두 학업적 지원보다 정서적 지원에 관한 자질을 더 중요하게 인식하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 통합교육이 확대되고 교사들의 역할이 다양해지는 현실을 감안하면 앞으로 교사 양성과정에서 특수교사와 일반교사의 협력을 지원할 수 있도록 교육과정의 재정비가 필요할 것으로 보이며 보다 전문적인 교육자로서 정서적 지원 뿐 아니라 학업적 지원을 수행 할 통합교육 담당교사의 자질 기준이 마련되고 통합교육 담당교사의 책임이 강화되어야 하겠다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to understand the teachers's perceptions about teacher preparation and inclusive educators' abilities based on INTASC standards for teachers. Two hundreds and ninety teachers participated and revealed their opinions about teacher preparation and inclusive educator's abilities. Because they had been taught in two different teacher preparation programs, special educators and general educators possessed different opinions about what they had learned and should be educated in teacher preparations. However, they showed similar opinions about the important abilities for inclusive educators and mentioned that positive social interactions and environmental support, and understanding about individual differences were the most important for inclusive educators. Moreover, special education teachers revealed that teaching strategies, educational planning, and evaluation strategies were less important for inclusive educators although those were the abilities that should be educated to special education teachers. From that results, it was suggested that teacher preparation should be work collaboratively to support successful inclusive educators and core standards for inclusive educators, not only as emotional supporters but also as academic professionals would be necessary to build successful inclusion.
