청각장애 학생의 전화사용 실태에 관한 조사 연구

국문 초록

청각장애인이 가지고 있는 의사소통의 어려움은 보청기와 인공와우 등의 발달로 다소 해결이 되었지만, 전화통화상의 어려움은 보청기와 인공와우를 착용하여도 아직 남아있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 청각장애 학생의 전화사용 실태를 조사하기 위하여 S 청각장애 특수학교 청각장애 학생 55명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 청각장애 학생 중 청력손실의 정도는 농 학생이 높은 비율을 나타내었고, 청력손실 기간은 10년 이상으로 나타났다. 또한 청각장애 학생에게 나타나는 이명 현상은 가장 많이 나타났다. 둘째, 청각장애 학생의 전화통화 시 상대방의 말소리 변별은 상대방의 말소리가 어떤 소리인지 알 수 없다에 대한 응답비율이 가장 많았고, 주변이 시끄러운 곳에서 전화통화 시 상대방의 말소리 변별은 듣기가 아주어렵다라고 응답한 비율이 높게 나타났다. 셋째, 청각장애 학생이 사용하는 전화기의 사용 실태를 살펴본 결과, 휴대전화 사용 비율이 가장 높게 나타났으며, 청각장애 학생의 다소는 공중전화에서 상대방의 말소리가 듣기에 가장 어렵다고 하였다. 또한 청각장애 학생이 전화 통화 시, 전화기의 착용하고 있는 보청기의 전화스위치를 사용하지 않고 전화통화를 하는 학생의 비율이 높게 나타났다. 끝으로 청각장애 학생의 전화관련 보조기기 사용 실태를 살펴본 결과, 청각장애 학생 대부분이 전화기 및 보조기기에 대하여 모른다고 응답한 비율이 많았다. 이 연구를 통하여 청각장애 학생 대부분이 농 또는 양이손상자의 경우에는 전화통화의 혜택을 마음껏 누릴 수 없음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결과를 통하여 청각사와 청각전문가들은 보청기 처방 시 전화증폭기의 상담과 체계적이고 지속적인 관리 프로그램을 마련해야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

Hearing-impaired people's difficulties with communication has somewhat overcome with the development of a hearing aid and Cochlear implant but, their difficulties with making phone calls still remain even though those aids are used. Against this backdrop, a survey was conducted on 55 students of S school for the deaf to check deaf students' current conditions of phone use. The results are as the following. First, in terms of their hearing ability, a large part of them were deaf, having had hearing impairment for more than ten years. Most of the students have experienced a ringing in the ears. Second, when it comes to how easily the students can understand the other person's voice over the phone, most of them said that they cannot understand what the other person is saying. Many of them said that it is difficult to hear the other person when they are making a call in a noisy place. Third, in terms of the type of the phones they use, most of them use a mobile phone. Some of them said it is the most difficult to hear the other person when they are using a public telephone. Large part of the surveyed students do not turn on the phone-call switch of their hearing aid when they make a phone call. Lastly, when it comes to wether the students make use of the telephone aids of special telephone products made for the deaf, most of them said that they are not aware of them. This research demonstrates that students with hearing impairment, completely deaf or with impairment in both ears, cannot make convenient use of a telephone. Noting this research result, audiologist should come up with professional consulting program in which they recommend telephone amplifier for a hearing and should design a systematic and constant aid programs for the deaf people.
