국문 초록

This study explored the impact of Padlet-based freewriting activities on reducing L2 writing anxiety, improving writing performance, and proposing effective writing strategies for Korean EFL learners. Over a semester, 17 undergraduate English education majors participated in freewriting activities using Padlet, a collaborative digital tool designed to facilitate non-evaluative, low-anxiety writing practice. A pre- and post-study design was employed, utilizing Cheng’s (2004) Second Language Writing Anxiety Inventory (SLWAI), holistic writing assessments, and a learner perception, experience, and satisfaction survey. The findings indicate that Padlet-based freewriting significantly reduced writing anxiety and contributed to writing improvement. Survey findings further indicated that students valued the interactive and collaborative aspects of the activity, highlighting how digital platforms can enhance writing engagement, confidence, and motivation. Padlet seemed to facilitate freer expression and peer interaction, easing affective barriers. Based on these findings, this study proposes several pedagogical strategies, such as incorporating digital tools for peer interaction, using freewriting as a writing technique, and fostering non-evaluative, collaborative, and supportive classroom environments. These approaches aim to improve learner engagement, writing development, and anxiety reduction in EFL education. The results underscore the transformative potential of digital platforms in mitigating writing anxiety and enhancing writing outcomes in EFL writing instruction.
