국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 장애학생들의 자기결정에 대한 특수교육과 박사과정 학생들의 인식수준을 조사하는 것이다. 본 연구는 특수교육계에서 대학교수 및 교육 관리직, 즉 리더가 되기 위해 준비하고 있는 박사학생들이 자기결정에 관해서 알고 있는 것과 자신들의 연구와 미래의 가르침에 있어서 자기결정의 중요성과 관련된 그들의 관점을 조사하도록 설계되었다. 연구자는 이 연구를 통하여 박사학생들의 장애학생의 자기결정에 대한 지식과 일반적인 태도를 확인하였다. 연구의 결과는 미래의 특수교육과 예비교수 및 특수교육 관리자로서 박사과정 학생들 중 많은 수가 자기결정의 정의와 구성요소에 대해 이해하고 있음을 보여준다. 그러나 그들은 자기결정 사정, 교육과정, 이슈, 그리고 경향 등과 같은 실제적인 지식은 상당히 부족하여 이와 관련된 지식을 습득하기 위한 노력이 더욱 더 필요하다는 것을 보여준다. 또한, 본 연구의 결과를 통해 많은 박사학생들이 자기결정은 장애학생들이 획득해야하는 가장 중요한 기술들 중 하나라는 것을 믿고 있고 미래에 그들의 가르침에서 자기결정에 관한 지식과 기술을 당연히 포함 시킬 것임을 나타낸다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate special education doctoral students’ perceptions of self-determination for students with disabilities. This study is designed to examine what doctoral students who are preparing for the future role as faculty in special education know about self-determination and their views related its importance in their own studies and in future teaching. Specifically, this study identifies doctoral students’ knowledge of self-determination and general attitude toward self-determination. For this, an extensive literature review has been conducted in the area of self-determination for students with disabilities. The results of this study suggested that the high number of special education doctoral students as pre-faculty members in the department of special education indicated they understood the definition and components of self-determination. However, they need to have more sufficient knowledge about self-determination such as assessment, curricula, issues and trends. In addition, the results indicated that a majority of the doctoral students believed that self-determination is one of the most important skill sets acquired by students with disabilities, and they were willing to integrate self-determination knowledge and skills into their future teaching. Finally, limitations of this study and implications for further research are discussed.
