대학 비교과 운영 개선을 위한 참여 제약 요인 및 요구도 분석

국문 초록

연구목적: 본 연구는 대학생의 비교과 참여에 영향을 미치는 제약 요인을 파악하고, 데이터 기반의 비교과 운영 개선 전략을 제안하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구방법: 수도권 소재 S대학교 학부 재학생 691명을 대상으로 비교과 참여 제약 인식 및 비교과 요구도에 대한 설문조사를 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 26.0을 활용하여 일표본 t-검정, 독립표본 t-검정, 일원분 산분석(ANOVA), 대응표본 t-검정, 중요도–실행도 분석(IPA), Borich 요구도 분석, Locus for Focus 모형 등을 통해 분석하였다. 연구결과: 분석 결과, 성별, 비교과 만족 여부, 참여 기간, 거주 형태에 따라 비교과 참여 제약 인식에 유의 미한 차이가 나타났다. 여학생, 비교과에 불만족하는 집단, 참여 기간 6개월 미만 집단, 통학생 집단에서 제 약 인식 수준이 상대적으로 높았다. 주요 제약 요인으로는 ‘학업 및 아르바이트 병행’과 ‘원하는 프로그램 부재’가 가장 두드러지게 나타났다. 비교과 요구도 분석 결과, 학생들은 비교과 자가점검 전산 시스템 개선, 공모전･자격증 관련 프로그램 확대, 교과 연계형 비교과 프로그램 강화, 진로 개발 지원, 다면적 졸업인증 제 안내 강화 등에 대한 요구 수준이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 논의 및 결론: 참여 제약 요인 분석 결과, 대학생들의 비교과 참여 제약을 완화하고 참여율을 높이기 위해 서는 배경 변인에 기반한 세분화된 접근 전략이 필요하며, 특히 초기 참여를 유도할 수 있는 단계적･구조 적 설계가 요구됨이 확인되었다. 아울러 요구도 분석 결과, 대학생들은 학업 및 진로 경로와 긴밀히 연계된 자기주도적･목표지향적･체계적인 비교과 경험을 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 학생 중심의 비교과 생 태계 구축을 위해서는 실제 수요를 반영할 수 있는 프로그램 기획, 온라인･비대면과 같은 접근성 강화 방 안, 통합관리 시스템의 고도화, 졸업인증제 안내 체계 개선 등 구체적이고 다각적인 개선 전략이 마련되어 야 함을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

Purpose: This study aims to identify the constraints affecting university students’ participation in extracurricular (non-curricular) programs and to propose data-driven strategies for improving their implementation. Method: A survey was administered with 691 undergraduate students at S University to examine perceived barriers to participation and program needs. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0, employing t-tests, ANOVA, Importance–Performance Analysis (IPA), Borich’s needs assessment, and the Locus for Focus model. Results: Significant differences in perceived barriers were observed by gender, program satisfaction, duration of participation, and residential status. Female students, those dissatisfied with programs, students with less than six months of participation experience, and commuting students reported higher levels of perceived barriers. “Academic workload and part-time jobs” and “lack of desirable programs” were perceived as the most prominent obstacles. In terms of program needs, students expressed strong needs for improved self-assessment systems concerning extracurricular activities, expansion of competition and certification programs, integration of programs with academic courses, career development support, and enhanced guidance on the multi-dimensional graduation certification system. Conclusion: Findings suggests that enhancing students’ engagement in extracurricular programs requires segmented strategies tailored to background variables, as well as structural designs that facilitate students’ initial entry into extracurricular programs. Furthermore, students strongly prefer self-directed, goal-oriented, and systematic extracurricular experiences aligned with academic and career pathways. Universities should adopt a student-centered extracurricular ecosystem with multifaceted program designs that reflect actual needs of students.
