ADHD 영재에 관한 국내, 외 연구 고찰

국문 초록

본 연구는 ADHD 영재에 대한 선행 연구의 실태와 주요 연구 결과를 파악하기 위해 2000년부터 2024년까지 국내, 외 전문 학술지에 게재된 ADHD 영재 관련 연구 중에서 실증적 연구 방법을 사용한 총 28편(국내 4편, 국외 24편)의 논문을 선정하여 분석하였다. 그 결과 ADHD 영재에 관한 논문의 연구 대상은 초등학생이 가장 많았으며, 양적 연구 방법을 가장 많이 활용한 것으로 나타났다. 선정된 논문의 주요 결과에 따르면, ADHD 영재는 기본 인지 처리 과정상에 약점이 있지만 창의성과 같은 고차적 사고력이 우수하며, 부정적 자아개념과 불안, 우울, 공격성 등과 같은 부정적인 정서를 경험한다. 또한 ADHD 영재는 정서와 행동 조절, 그리고 반복적인 과제 수행에 어려움이 있지만 흥미 있는 과제에 주의를 집중하는 것으로 나타났다. ADHD 영재를 지도하는 교사는 부모보다 ADHD 영재의 학습과 관련된 문제 행동을 더 심각하게 평가하였고, ADHD 영재는 자신의 특성에 적합한 맞춤형 과제와 개별적인 지원을 요구하고 있으며, 교사 역시 효과적인 중재 전략으로 차별화된 수업과 지원을 제안하였다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 ADHD 영재에 관한 연구의 활성화와 교육적 실천에 필요한 후속 연구 과제를 제언하였다.

영문 초록

This study investigated the current state and major findings of empirical research on gifted students with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), a population often referred to as twice-exceptional (2e). A total of 28 peer-reviewed articles- 4 Korean and 24 international - published between 2000 and 2024 were selected and analyzed based on four specific criteria: publication year, research subjects, methodology, and key findings. The analysis revealed that most studies focused on elementary school students and employed quantitative research methods. The results indicated that gifted students with ADHD exhibit weaknesses in basic cognitive processing, but demonstrate strengths in higher-order thinking skills such as creativity and reasoning; They also experience emotional difficulties including low self-esteem, anxiety, and depression, and have challenges with behavioral regulation and task completion; Teachers tended to perceive students’ learning-related behavioral issues more seriously than parents did; Both groups acknowledged the need for personalized tasks and individual support tailored to students’ unique characteristics; Differentiated instruction and strength-based approaches were identified as effective educational strategies. Based on these findings, the study discussed future directions for research and practice in the education of gifted students with ADHD.
