국문 초록

본 연구는 중학교 초기 학업무기력, 학업열의에 관심을 갖고, 중1 시기 학업무기력, 교사와의 관계, 부모양육태도, 친구관계와, 중2 시기 학업열의를 변인으로 설정하고, 이들 간의 관계를 분석하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 학업무기력과 학업열의 간의 관계에서 교사관계의 매개효과를 검증하고, 학업무기력과 교사관계 사이에 부모양육태도, 친구관계 각각의 조절된 매개효과를 파악하는 것이다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 한국아동·청소년 패널조사(KCYPS) 2018 데이터의 중학교 1차년도(중1)와 2차년도(중2) 자료를 사용하였다(2,147명). 자료 분석은 Hayes(2017)의 PROCESS Macro를 사용하였다. 연구결과는 첫째, 중1 학업무기력은 중1 시기 교사관계, 부모양육태도, 친구관계, 중2 시기 학업열의와 유의한 부적 관계를 나타냈고, 중1 시기 교사관계, 부모양육태도, 친구관계, 중2 시기 학업열의는 유의한 정적 관계를 나타냈다. 둘째, 중1 학업무기력과 중2 학업열의의 관계에서 중1 시기 교사관계의 매개효과를 확인하였다. 셋째, 중1 시기 학업무기력이 교사관계에 미치는 영향에서 중1 시기 부모양육태도, 친구관계의 조절된 매개효과를 확인하였다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 중학교 초기 학업무기력과 학업열의 중재를 위한 교육적 시사점을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study focuses on early academic helplessness and engagement in middle school, examining the relationships between academic helplessness in the first year of middle school (7th grade), relationships with teachers, parenting attitudes, peer relationships, and academic engagement in the second year (8th grade). The purpose of this study is to verify the mediating effect of the teacher-student relationship in the link between academic helplessness and academic engagement, as well as to explore the moderated mediating effects of parenting style and peer relationships in the relationship between academic helplessness and teacher relationships. To achieve this, data from the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS) 2018, specifically from the first (7th grade) and second year (8th grade) middle school samples (2,147 participants), were utilized. Data analysis was conducted using Hayes' (2017) PROCESS Macro. The findings are as follows: First, academic helplessness in 7th grade showed a significant negative correlation with teacher relationships, parenting attitudes, peer relationships in 7th grade, and academic engagement in 8th grade. Meanwhile, teacher relationships, parenting attitudes, and peer relationships in 7th grade, as well as academic engagement in 8th grade, showed significant positive relationships. Second, the mediating effect of the teacher relationship was verified in the relationship between academic helplessness in 7th grade and academic engagement in 8th grade. Third, the moderated mediating effects of parenting style and peer relationships in the impact of academic helplessness on teacher relationships in 7th grade were identified. Based on these findings, educational implications for interventions in early academic helplessness and engagement in middle school were discussed.
