유아를 위한 공감활동이 유아의 자아존중감, 배려행동과 사회적 기술에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 유아를 위한 공감활동을 실시한 후 유아의 자아존중감, 배려행동, 사회적 기술에 미치는 영향이 어떠한지를 알아보는 것이 주된 목적이었다. 이를 위해 경기도 Y시에 위치한 S어린이집의 만 4세 유아 51명을 실험집단(남 17, 여 11, 총 28명)과 통제집단 (남 11, 여 12, 총 23명)으로 나누고 실험집단 유아에게 유아를 위한 공감활동을 1주에 2회씩 총 9주 동안 18회 실시하였다. 그리고 통제집단 유아에게는 누리과정에 근거한 주간교육 활동을 실시하였다. 본 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유아를 위한 공감활동은 유아의 자아존중감에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 유아를 위한 공감활동은 유아의 배려행동에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 유아를 위한 공감활동은 유아의 사회적 기술에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 이러한 결과는 유아를 위한 공감활동이 유아의 자아존중감, 배려행동과 사회적 기술의 발달에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳐 유아가 자신을 존중하고 다른 사람을 배려하며 긍정적인 상호작용하기에 적합한 활동임을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of young children's empathetic activities on their self-esteem, care behaviors, and social skills. The subjects of this study were 51 four-yearold children in S child care center located at Y city in Gyeonggi-do. The children were separated into the two groups: an experimental and control group. This study found several results as follows. First, the empathetic activities had an effect on young children's self-esteem. Second, the empathetic activities had an effect on young children's care behaviors. Third, the empathy activities made an effect on young children's social skills. The results imply that the activities in this study are appropriate for young children’s internal and external development. Therefore, this study is meaningful in that the empathy activities helped development of young children’s self-esteem, caring behavior, and social skill. Moreover, early childhood institutions can use these activities to build young children's self-esteem, care behavior, and social skills.
