통일 관련 그림책에 대한 내용 분석 및 유아의 반응

국문 초록

본 연구는 통일 관련 그림책들이 유아 통일교육의 어떤 내용을 담고 있는지 분석하고, 그 그림책에 대한 유아의 반응을 질적으로 탐구하는 것이다. 이를 위해 통일 관련 그림책 6권을 선정하고, 선행연구들로부터 추출해 낸 유아 통일교육의 접근 방향과 내용으로부터 ‘그림책 내용 분석 준거’를 구성하였으며, J시에 소재하는 D어린이집 만 4-5세 유아들 8명을 대상으로 그림책 반응활동을 실시하였다. 연구결과로서 통일 관련 그림책에서는 ‘통일의 미래상’이 잘 표현되고 있고, ‘분단 과정과 분단의 폐해’에 대해서는 비중 있게 다루고 있는 반면 ‘화해 · 협력, 교류의 활성’ 내용에 있어서는 소홀히 다루는 것으로 나타났으며, ‘북한 실상에 대한 이해와 수용’, ‘동질성에 대한 공감’과 관련하여 주로 다루고 있는 소재는 ‘말’에 제한되어 있고, ‘전통문화’와 관련된 내용은 거의 찾아볼 수 없었다. 통일 관련 그림책에 대한 유아들의 반응은 첫째, ‘철조망’, ‘전쟁과 평화’, ‘북한’, ‘북한말’, ‘북한 친구’, ‘통일’ 등의 ‘통일 표상 어휘에 대한 반응과 인식의 변화’, 둘째, 그림책 읽기 경험이 누적됨에 따라 나타나는 ‘상호텍스트적 교류를 통한 의미 파악의 즐거움’ 등으로 나타났다. 연구결과는 통일 관련 그림책의 통일교육 매체로서의 가능성을 보여주었고, 유아를 위한 통일교육에 적합한 그림책과 통일교육 프로그램의 개발에 기초 자료를 제공하는 데 본 연구의 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to provide baseline data for developing unification education programs by examining contents of unification-related picture books and children`s responses to them. The participants of this study included eight children ages four and five who attended D child care center located in J city. The study was carried out by selecting 6 picture books and carrying out the response-centered literature activities for children. The picture book activities for children proceeded 3-4 times a week, a total of 42 sessions, from March 2 to May 22, 2015. The results of the study were as follows: First, contents of unification education for children in unification-related picture books appeared to show several characteristics. The ‘future vision of unification’ was expressed well through text and pictures in picture books. While unification-related picture books highlighted ‘process and harmful consequences of national division’, ‘compromise cooperation and promotion of exchange’ was regarded as unessential. There was little content related to ‘traditional culture’ in unification-related picture books. Second, children`s responses to unification-related picture books were classified into ‘response to words representing unification’ and ‘reading with pleasure through inter-textual exchange’. The significance of this study would include the provision of the baseline data for developing unification programs and literary works which are suitable to unification education for children.
