국문 초록

본 연구는 그림책을 활용한 안전교육 활동이 유아의 안전지식과 안전문제해결에 미치는 효과를 알아보는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 G시에 소재한 유치원 만 4세 2개 학급으로 실험집단(20명)은 그림책을 활용한 안전교육활동을 실시하였으며, 비교집단(20명)은 주제와 관련된 안전교육 활동을 실시하였다. 실험집단은 그림책을 읽고 그림책 속에 나오는 삽화와 내용을 안전에 관한 요소를 중심으로 활동을 접목하여 7주간 14회 실시하였다. 연구결과 그림책을 활용한 안전교육활동을 한 실험집단이 비교집단의 안전지식과 안전문제해결에 유의하게 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 유아교육현장에서 그림책을 활용한 안전교육 활동이 유아의 안전지식과 안전문제해결에 대한 효과적인 교수-학습방법이 될 수 있음을 시사하고 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to find out the effects of safety education activities based on picture books on young children’s safety knowledge and safety problem solving ability. The subjects were randomly assigned 40 young children aged four years who attended one kindergarten located in ‘G’ city, South Korea. Twenty young children for the experimental group and twenty young children for the comparison group were selected. The children of the experimental group interacted with safety education activities using picture books and those in the comparison group listened to a picture books’ story. The experimental group combines the activities of the central elements of the artwork and information on safety comes into picture books to read picture books was carried out fourteen times during 7weeks. Analysis of data was conducted with ANCOVA using SPSS 18.0. The results were as follows. First, safety education activities using picture books enhanced young children's safety knowledge. Second, emotional experience activities using picture books enhanced young children's safety problem solving ability. In conclusion, safety education activities using picture books had a meaningf l on young children’s safety knowledge and safety problem solving ability. Therefore the present study results imply that safety education activities using picture books are worth using as a meaningf l teaching method in the early childhood education field.
