국문 초록

본 연구에서는 부모의 안전에 대한 지식과 안전교육 실행정도가 유아들의 안전지식과 위험요소예측능력과 어떤 관계가 있으며 실제적인 영향력이 어떠한가를 살펴봄으로써 유아안전사고 예방을 위한 부모역할의 특성을 파악하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 G시에 소재한 유치원의 만 3, 4, 5세 유아 140명과 그의 부모를 연구대상으로 선정하여, 김인주(2006)의 검사도구를 수정․보완하여 완성한 부모용 질문지와 이를 토대로 관련문헌을 고찰하여 제작한 유아 안전지식 및 위험요소예측능력 검사도구를 사용하여 자료를 수집하였다. 연구결과, 부모의 안전지식과 안전교육 실행정도는 유아의 특정영역에 대한 안전지식 및 위험요소예측능력과 정적인 상관관계가 있으며, 전체적인 유아의 안전지식과 위험요소예측능력에 어머니의 안전교육 실행정도와 부모의 안전지식이 영향력이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 연구의 결과를 토대로 유아의 안전교육에 있어서의 아버지와 어머니 역할의 강점을 고려한 접근의 필요성과 이를 위한 부모교육 프로그램의 개발 및 적용의 필요성을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study purposed to understand the characteristics of parents’ role for preventing safety accidents in young children by examining how parents’ safety knowledge and their safety education performance influence and are related to young children’s safety knowledge and ability to predict risk elements. For this purpose, we sampled 140 young children between 3 and 5 years of age and their parents at kindergartens in G City, and collected data using a questionnaire for parents prepared by revising and supplementing the test tool of Kim In-joo (2006), and another questionnaire on young children’s safety knowledge and ability to predict risk elements prepared through the review of relevant literature. According to the results of this study, parents’ safety knowledge and safety education performance were in positive correlation young children’s safety knowledge and ability to predict risk elements in specific areas. The study showed that a mother’s safety education performance and parents’ safety knowledge influenced young children’s overall safety knowledge and ability to predict risk elements. Based on the results of this study, we discussed the necessity to approach safety education for young children in consideration of the strengths of fathers’ and mothers’ roles and to develop and apply parent education programs for safety education.
