영유아교사의 심리적 안녕감과 교사헌신

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 영유아교육기관에 근무하고 있는 영유아교사들의 심리적 안녕감과 교사헌신의 전반적인 양상을 알아보고 두 변인들 간에 어떠한 관련성이 있는지를 밝히는 것이다. 연구대상은 서울특별시와 경기도 소재 어린이집에 근무하는 영유아교사 329명이었으며, 심리적 안녕감과 교사헌신에 관하여 질문지를 사용하여 조사하였다. 연구결과는 첫째, 영유아교사가 지각하는 전반적인 심리적 안녕감은 이전에 이루어진 연구의 결과보다 높아진 것으로 나타났다. 영유아교사들은 긍정적인 대인관계와 관련하여 가장 높은 심리적 안녕감을 느끼고 있었고, 다음으로 삶의 목적, 개인적 성장과 자아수용 등의 순서에 따라 그 영역과 관련된 심리적 안녕감을 높은 수준으로 느끼고 있었다. 환경에 대한 통제력 및 자율성과 관련되어 느끼는 심리적 안녕감은 비교적 낮은 수준인 것으로 나타났다 둘째, 영유아교사들은 비교적 높은 정도의 교사헌신을 하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 영유아에 대하여 높은 정도로 헌신하고 있었으며, 다음으로는 수업에 대한 헌신도가 높았고, 영유아교육기관에 대해서는 영유아와 수업에 비해서 비교적 낮은 정도로 헌신하고 있었다. 셋째, 영유아교사의 심리적 안녕감과 교사헌신은 긍정적인 관계가 있는 것으로 나타나 영유아교사가 느끼는 심리적 안녕감의 수준이 높을수록 이들이 가르치는 영유아와 수업, 그리고 영유아교육기관에 보다 높은 수준으로 헌신하고 있는 것을 알 수 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the aspects of early childhood teachers' psychological well-being and teachers' commitment, and to analyze the relationship between the two. Subjects for this study were 329 early childhood teachers in public or private early childhood care and education centers located in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do Province in South Korea. Psychological Well-being Scale developed by Ryff(1989) and Teachers' Commitment Scale developed by Hong(2005) were used to measure the level of the early childhood teachers' psychological well-being and their commitment as teachers. The results of this study were as follows. First, the level of early childhood teachers’ psychological well-being was higher than a similar test study done in 2006 by Seo. The teachers' psychological well-being level was the highest in the sub-category of positive interrelationship, then followed the sub-categories of individual life purpose, individual development, and self-acceptance, respectively. The levels of psychological well-being in the sub-categories of control of environment and autonomy were relatively lower than the levels of psychological well-being in other subcategories. Second, early childhood teachers scored high in the Teachers' Commitment Scale. They made the highest commitment to young children, then to teaching, and made the lowest commitment to early childhood centers. Third, there was a positive correlation between early childhood teachers' level of psychological well-being and level of teachers' commitment.
