그림책에 묘사된 아버지 양육참여 특성에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 그림책에 묘사된 아버지의 양육참여를 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 아버지 양육참여와 관련된 그림책 총101권을 분석하였다. 그림책에 묘사된 아버지의 양육참여는 자녀와 함께 시간을 보냄, 정서적 지원, 돌봄에 참여, 놀이친구, 헌신하기, 책 읽어주기의 6가지로 범주화하여 분석하였다. 그 결과 정서적 지원자로서 아버지(26.5%)가 가장 높게 나타났으며, 다음으로는 자녀와 함께 시간을 보내는 아버지(22.7%), 돌봄을 제공하는 아버지(20.8%), 놀아주는 아버지(19.6%), 헌신하는 아버지(7.59%), 책 읽어주는 아버지(2.53%) 순으로 나타났다. 정서적 지원자로서 아버지의 양육특성은 자녀의 감정을 공감하는 아버지, 격려하는 아버지, 자녀에게 사랑을 표현하는 아버지로 나타났다. 자녀와 함께 시간을 보내는 아버지는 자녀가 원하는 것을 함께 해주기, 특별한 곳을 동행하기이고, 돌봄을 제공하는 아버지는 씻기, 먹이기, 재우기 등과 같은 돌봐주는 행위와 가사에 수동적으로 참여하는 것이다. 놀아주는 아버지는 자녀와 신체적 접촉을 통한 몸 놀이(만지기, 안기, 뽀뽀하기)를 하고, 놀이친구 되어주기이고, 헌신하는 아버지의 경우 자녀를 위해 희생하는 아버지와 노력하는 아버지로 묘사되었다. 책 읽어주는 아버지의 양육특성은 함께 책을 읽어주거나 잠자리에서 책을 읽어주는 아버지로 나타났다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine fathers’ involvement in child rearing as portrayed in picture books. To conduct this study, 101 picture books were analyzed related to child rearing by fathers. The fathers’ child rearing involvement was analyzed in terms of six categories, such as time together, emotional supporter, care-giver, play-partner, dedicator, and reading supporter. Fathers who support their children’ emotionally were in 26.5% of the books. Fathers who spent time together with their children were observed in 22.7% of the books. The father as care-giver was shown in 20.8% of the books, and as play-partner in 19.6% of the books. In 7.59% of the books, fathers were shown as dedicators for their children. Only about 2.53% of books described fathers as giving reading support. According to the results of this, the child rearing characteristics of fathers who were emotional supporters were empathy with children, encouragement of children and telling the children that they are loved. A father who spent time with his children participated in what his children were doing and took his children to interesting places. A father as care-giver helped with children’s basic needs (bathing, feeding) or worked on chores around the house. A father as play-partner showed physical contact (touching, hugging, kissing) to his children or being a friend to his children. A father as dedicator sacrificed for his children and tried to make his children happy. A father as reading supporter encouraged his children’s reading and read to his children at bedtime.
