연령 간 일상적 교류를 위한 런치 버디 프로그램 운영에 참여한 교사들의 경험 연구

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 연령 간 상호작용이 매우 제한되어 있는 우리의 교육현장에서 단일연령 학급유아들의 일상적인 연령 간 교류 방안을 모색하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 점심시간을 활용한 런치 버디프로그램을 유치원 만 3세와 5세 단일연령 학급 유아들에게 적용하고 본 연구에 참여한 교사들이 어떻게 프로그램을 인식하고 경험하는지, 유아들과 함께 어떻게 프로그램을 만들어가는지 탐색하였다. 본 연구가 진행되는 전 과정에서 동영상 및 사진, 유아관찰, 교사면담 및 질문지, 활동 결과물, 연구일지 등을 자료로 수집하여 분석하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 교사들의 프로그램에 대한 인식과 경험은 ‘학급 간 만남에 기대감 갖기 및 어려움 경험하기, 버디관계에 대해 관심 갖기 및 혼합연령 상황에서의 유아 이해하기, 유아들의 변화 경험하기’ 세 가지로 나타났다. 둘째, 교사들이 유아들과 함께 버디 프로그램을 만들어가는 과정은 ‘유아들에게 적절한 짝구성하기, 긍정적 분위기 조성하기, 협력하는 상황 만들기, 다양한 방안 제시하기’ 네 가지로 범주화되었다. 본 연구는 일상적 교육과정 안에서 단일연령 학급 간 교류를 시도하여 보다 실제적으로 유아들의 연령 간 상호작용을 활성화 할 수 있는 방안을 제시하였다는 데 그 의의가 있다. 본 연구의 런치 버디 프로그램은 단일연령 학급구성과 혼합연령 학급구성의 단점을 동시에 극복할 수 있는 대안적 방안으로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대되었다.

영문 초록

This study tried to find a way of daily cross-aged interactions between same-aged classrooms in the current early childhood education institution, where interactions between ages are very limited. To achieve the purpose of study, cross-age buddies were grouped with 22 children from a 3-year-old classroom and 32 children from a 5-year-old classroom in a kindergarten. It was explored what the teachers conceived and experienced with the program and which participation activity did they make to manage the program with the young children. During the entire period of the program, various data such as videos, photos, children’s observation diaries, teacher interview diaries, questionnaires, activity results, and research reports were collected and analyzed. The results of this study were as follows. First, the teachers faced the following experiences such as ‘expectations and difficulties with the cross-aged meetings’, ‘interest in buddy relationships’, ‘understanding children in mixed age situations’ and ‘observing young children’s changes during the program’. Second, the teachers and children built the program with the following participation activities: "forming a suitable pair for the young children’, ‘creating a positive atmosphere’, ‘creating a collaborative situation’ and ‘suggesting various other activities’. This study is meaningful as it suggests a practical way of activating cross-aged transactions with the daily curriculum. It is also expected that the lunch buddy program could be a good alternative to overcome the limitations of both the same-aged and the mixed-aged grouping system.
