국문 초록

배경 및 목적: 고령자의 담화 산출 능력은 성별에 따라 차이가 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 고령자의 이야기 다시 말하기 수행에서 나타난 담화 산출 능력을 거시구조 및 미시구조 수준에서 분석하고, 성별에 따른 차이를 알아보았다. 방법: 연구대상은고령자 60명이며, 담화 산출 과제로는 이야기 다시 말하기 과제를 사용하였다. 담화의 거시구조 분석을 위해 이야기 문법 분석을, 미시구조 분석을 위해 정보 단위 분석을 적용하였다. 결과: 첫째, 이야기 문법 총 산출 비율은 여성 집단이 남성 집단보다 유의하게 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 완전한 일화 수에서는 성별에 따른 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 이야기 문법 하위 범주 산출 비율에서는 배경과시도 항목에서 여성이 남성보다 유의하게 높은 산출 비율을 보였다. 둘째, 모든 정보 단위 척도에서 여성이 남성보다 높은 수행을 보였다. 셋째, 성별에 관계없이 이야기 문법 총 산출 비율과 완전한 일화 수 모두 정보 단위 분석 척도들과 유의한 상관을 나타냈다. 즉, 담화의 구조적 조직화 능력은 정보의 양 및 효율성과 밀접한 관련성이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 논의 및 결론: 본 연구는 고령자의 이야기 담화 산출의 거시구조와 미시구조에서 나타나는 성별에 따른 차이를 살펴보았다. 본 연구의 결과는 고령자의 의사소통 평가와 중재에서 성별에 따른 고려가 이루어져야 함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

Objectives: Discourse production abilities in elderly adults are known to differ by gender. This study aimed to analyze discourse production in a story retelling task among healthy elderly adults at both macrostructural and microstructural levels, and to examine gender related differences. Methods: Sixty healthy elderly adults participated in this study. A story retelling task was used to elicit discourse. Macrostructure was analyzed using story gram mar analysis, while microstructure was assessed through information unit (IU) analysis. Results: First, the story grammar total rate was significantly higher in the female group than in the male group, whereas there was no significant gender difference in the number of complete episodes. In terms of story grammar subcategories, females showed significantly higher production rates in the background and attempt components compared to males. Second, females outperformed males across all IU measures. Third, regardless of gender, both story grammar total rate and the number of complete episodes were significantly cor related with all IU measures. That is, the ability to structurally organize discourse is closely related to the amount and efficiency of information. Conclusion: This study examined gender-related differences in the macrostructure and microstructure of narrative discourse production among healthy elderly adults. The findings suggest that gender should be considered when evaluating and planning interventions for communication in healthy elderly adults.
