국문 초록

배경 및 목적: 소근육운동능력은 단순한 신체 조절 기능을 넘어 인지적, 언어적 기능과도 밀접한 관련을 가지는 것으로 보고되고 있다. 본 연구는 4세 언어발달지연 아동을 대상으로 소근육운동능력과 언어능력 간의 상관관계 및 예측력을 단기종단적으로 분석하고자 하였다. 방법: 언어 및 소근육운동능력을 평가받은 4세 아동 37명을 대상으로 Pearson 상관분석과 선형회귀분석을 실시하였다. 결과: 시각-운동통합능력은 수용언어 및 표현언어와 유의한 상관을 보였으며, 6개월 후 언어발달과 1년 후 수용언어발달을 유의하게 예측하였다. 잡기능력은 표현언어와 유의미한 상관을 보였으며, 6개월 후 표현언어발달을 예측하였으나 1년 후에 대한 예측력은 유의미하지 않았다. 4세의 언어능력은 이후 1년 후 시각-운동통합발달을 예측하였다. 논의 및 결론: 소근육운동능력, 특히 시각-운동통합은 언어발달과 양방향적으로 상호작용하므로, 언어중재 시 소근육운동기능을 포함한 통합적 접근이 필요할 것이다.

영문 초록

Objectives: Fine motor skills are closely associated with physical coordination as well as cognitive and language development in early childhood. Previous research has suggested that these domains are interrelated, especially in children with developmental delays. This study aimed to examine the correlation and predictive relationships between fine motor skills and language abilities in 4-year-old children with developmental language delays, using a short-term longitudinal approach. Methods: A total of 37 four-year-old children with developmental language delays, who had been assessed using the Preschool Receptive-Expressive Language Scale (PRES) and the Peabody Developmental Motor Scales-Second Edition (PDMS-2), were included in the study. Pearson correlation and linear regression analyses were performed to examine the relationships between fine motor skills and language abilities, as well as their predictive power at 6-month and 1-year follow-up points. Results: Visual-motor integration skills showed significant correlations with both receptive and expressive language scores and predicted receptive language development one year later. Grasping skills were significantly correlated with expressive language and predicted expressive language gains at six months but not at one year. Furthermore, language abilities at age four significantly predicted visual-motor integration development one year later, indicating a bidirectional relationship. Conclusion: The findings highlight the importance of visual-motor integration in language development and suggest that language and fine motor development may influence each other over time. These results support an integrated therapeutic approach that includes fine motor training in language interven tions for children with developmental language delays.
