국문 초록

이 글의 목적은 김태오의 『초원』(1939)을 장르 배치라는 관점에서 검토하여, 김태오 문학의 정치성을 밝혀내는 데 있다. 지금까지 김태오는 아동문학가 또는 소년운동가로만 조명 받아왔다. 본 연구는 시인으로서의 김태오를 조명함으로써 김태오 연구의 저변을 확장시키고자 한다. 『초원』은 서정시, 동시, 시조로 이루어진 시집이다. 이러한 배치는 단순한 장르 병렬이 아니다. 『초원』은 고향을 상실한 서정적 주체가 동시의 순수성과 시조의 장소성을 통해 감정의 질서를 재구성하는 구조를 갖는다. 『초원』은 감정의 흐름을 따라 장르를 이동시키며, 문학 내부에 내재한 위계−표준어/방언, 아동문학/성인문학, 현대시/전통시−를 해체하고 재편성하는 미학적 실천을 수행한다. 김태오는 『초원』을 통해서 장르의 경계를 교란하는 실천을 하고 있는 것이다. 이러한 『초원』의 구조는 통념적인 감각 배치를 재배열한다는 점에서 문학의 정치로서 기능한다.

영문 초록

The aim of this study is to examine Kim Tae-oh’s Grassland (1939) from the perspective of genre assemblage and to reveal the political dimension of his literature. Until now, Kim Tae-oh has been primarily recognized as a writer of children’s literature or a youth activist. This study seeks to expand the scope of research on Kim by examining him as a poet. Grassland is a poetry collection composed of lyric poems, poetry for children, and traditional sijo. This assemblage is not a simple juxtaposition of genres; rather, it forms a structure in which a lyric subject, having lost their homeland, reconfigures an affective order through the purity of children’s verse and the spatiality of sijo. Following the flow of affect, Grassland moves across genres and enacts an aesthetic practice that dismantles and reconfigures internal literary hierarchies—standard language/ dialect, children’s literature/adult literature, and modern poetry/traditional verse. Through this, Kim Tae-oh engages in a practice that disrupts the boundaries of genre. In this sense, the structure of Grassland functions as a politics of literature by rearranging a conventional sensory assemblage.
