국문 초록

중국 문화의 세계화는 ‘일대일로’ 틀에서 핵심적인 과제로 부상하고 있다. 이러한 배경에서 중국 고전은 중국 문화를 해외에 전파하는 중요한 매개체로서 중요한 역할을 수행하고 있으며, 그 중 『홍루몽』은 중국 문학의 대표적인 걸작으로 평가받고 있다. 쌍관어(雙關語)는 해당 언어와 문화의 특성을 집약적으로 담고 있는 중요한 요소로 서, 『홍루몽』에서는 다양한 언어유희가 등장인물의 특성과 성격을 섬세하게 묘사하고, 중국어의 풍부한 표현력과 문화적 깊이를 생생하게 보여준다. 본 연구는 들라바스티타(Delabastita)의 언어유희 번역 이론을 바탕으로, 이토 소헤이(伊藤漱平)의 『홍루몽』일본어 번역본을 분석하여 그의 번역 전략과 관점을 검토하고, 이를 통해 중국 고전 번역에 대한 실천적 시사점을 제시하고자 한다. 연구 결과에 따르면, 이토 소헤이는 원문 의미의 충실성을 최우선으로 하는 번역 철학을 견지하였다. 중국 고전의 해외 번역에서는 번역자의 주해 활용 능력, 심오한 내용의 대중적 이해를 돕는 전달방식, 그리고 일관된 번역 철학이 중요한 요소로 간주된다. 이러한 노력을 통해 중국 특색을 살리고 중국 정신을 구현하며 중국적 지혜를 담은 문화 콘텐츠를 세계에 소개함으로써, 신뢰성과 매력, 존경을 동시에 갖춘 중국의 이미지를 구축할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

Promoting Chinese culture to “go global” is an essential part of the “Belt and Road” Initiative. Chinese classics are key carriers of Chinese culture to the outside world, with A Dream of Red Mansions being a prime example. As the epitome of local culture and language, puns are of high value. The intricate and exquisite use of puns in A Dream of Red Mansions seamlessly with characters' identities and personalities while showcasing the profound richness and cultural depth of the Chinese language. Based on Delabastita’s pun translation theory, this paper attempts to explore Ito Sohei’s translation view in order to shed some new insights to translate Chinese classics into Japanese. The research shows that Ito Sohei’s version of A Dream of Red Mansions embodies his translation view of focusing on the adequacy of the translation. It also indicates that the Japanese translation of Chinese classics requires translators to skillfully use annotations, explain complex ideas in simple terms, pay attention to the translation view, promote more excellent culture with Chinese characteristics, Chinese spirit and Chinese wisdom to the world, and strive to create a reliable, admirable and respectable image of China.
