국문 초록

본 연구는 중국의 BL 콘텐츠 규제를 통해 드러난 국가의 규율 권력과 이에 대응하는 중국 BL 팬덤의 전술적 대응을 분석한다. 푸코의 ‘규율 권력’과 버틀러의 ‘젠더 수행성’ 개념은 국가가 남성에게 요구하는 수행 양식을 표준화하고, ‘정상성’에 부합하는표현만을 승인하는 통치 전략을 설명한다. 이에 맞서 중국 BL 팬덤은 세르토의 ‘전술’ 개념을 통해 규제의 틈을 점유하고, 프레이저의 ‘하위 공론장’ 개념을 바탕으로 독자적인 자신들의 질서를 구성해 왔다. 본 연구는 이러한 BL 팬덤의 대응 양상을 분석함으로써, 현대 중국 사회에서 하위 주체가 규범 통치에 맞서는 방식을 이론적으로조명한다. 나아가 이러한 대응은 국가 규범 권력에 대한 전술적 대응을 넘어, 표현의자율성과 젠더 수행을 둘러싼 새로운 질서 형성의 계기로 작동함을 드러낸다.

영문 초록

This study examines the Chinese government’s regulation of BL (Boys’ Love) content as a strategy to enforce heteronormative gender roles, nationalistic masculinity, and controlled emotional expression. Drawing on Michel Foucault’s concept of disciplinary power and Judith Butler’s theory of gender performativity, it analyzes how state intervention constructs a visual regime that legitimizes specific gender performances and relationships. In response, female BL fans adopt creative strategies to subvert this framework. Using Michel de Certeau’s notion of “tactics” and Nancy Fraser’s concept of “subaltern counterpublics,” the study interprets fan practices as acts of resistance that reconfigure dominant cultural spaces. These include platform migration, coded language, collaborative world-building, hashtag activism, and informal economies through crowdfunding and merchandise. The fandom also engages in transnational exchange, extending its networks beyond domestic censorship. Such practices not only bypass state restrictions but also foster alternative gender norms and interpretive communities. Ultimately, the study argues that Chinese BL fandom challenges the boundaries of state-defined gender and emotion, becoming an active site of cultural and political negotiation.
