국문 초록

1960년대 미국에서 등장한 ‘신의 죽음 신학’을 비판적으로 계승한 급진 신학은 후기구조주의와 해체주의 담론을 수용하며 신학의 새로운 방향을 제 시했다. 이 신학 운동은 신의 죽음, 자아의 소멸, 역사의 종말, 포스트모더니 즘과 같은 주제를 신학의 중요한 의제로 삼았다. 하지만 급진신학은 후기 세 속사회에 종교가 다시 부흥하는 현상과 종교의 정치참여에 대해 진지하게 성찰하지 못했다. 제프리 로빈스는 급진신학의 비판적 관심사를 공유하면서 현대 정치 철학, 특히 칼 슈미트, 샹탈 무페, 안토니오 네그리의 사상을 전유 하면서 종교가 긴급한 사회적, 정치적 문제를 어떻게 해결할 수 있는지 분석 한다. 로빈스는 이러한 사상가들의 개념을 활용해 민주주의와 주권의 관계 를 재검토하는 급진 정치신학을 제안한다. 그는 다원적이고 갈등적인 민주 주의 비전을 수용함으로써 주권에 대한 전통적인 개념을 넘어 다중의 정치 적 주권을 강조한다. 이 글은 정치신학이 초월적인 권위보다는 내재적이고 변혁을 일으키는 힘에 초점을 맞춰 더욱 급진적으로 민주화되어야 한다고 주장한다. 그렇게 함으로써 현대의 도전, 특히 후기 세속사회에 급진 정치신 학은 권력과 민주주의의 역동성에 더 잘 대응하고, 적절한 신학적 틀을 재구 성할 수 있다고 주장한다.

영문 초록

Radical theology, which critically inherited the ‘The Death of God Theology’ that emerged in the United States in the 1960s, presented a new direction for theology by accepting poststructuralism and deconstructionist discourse. This theological movement took themes such as the death of God, the extinction of the self, the end of history, and postmodernism as important theological agendas. However, radical theology failed to seriously reflect on the phenomenon of the revival of religion in the late secular society and the political participation of religion. Jeffrey Robbins shares the critical concerns of radical theology and analyzes how religion can solve urgent social and political problems by monopolizing the ideas of modern political philosophy, especially Carl Schmitt, Chantal Mouffe, and Antonio Negri. Robbins proposes a radical political theology that reexamines the relationship between democracy and sovereignty by utilizing the concepts of these thinkers. By accepting a pluralistic and agonistic model of democracy, he emphasizes the political sovereignty of the multitude beyond the traditional concept of sovereignty. This article argues that political theology should be more radically democratized, focusing on immanent and transformative power rather than transcendent authority. In doing so, it argues that radical political theology can better respond to the challenges of contemporary, especially postsecular, dynamics of democracy, and reconstruct an appropriate theological framework.
