중국 지역별 기업생산성변화와 결정요인분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 비모수적 추정방법인 DEA와 맴퀴스트지수를 통해 중국 31개 성·시의 기업효율성과 생산성변화를 측정하고 각 지역의 특성을 통해 기업의 효율성에 미치는 요인들을 규명하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 분석 결과 중국기업의 효율성지수는 평균 0.745로서 최대 생산의 75%정도만을 생산하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 한편 평균 맴퀴스트지수는 1.101로서 중국의 기업들은 매년 평균 10.1%의 총요소생산성 증가를 시현하고 있으며 전체적으로 기술진보가 중국기업의 생산성증가를 견인하고 기술효율성증대가 이를 뒷받침하는 모습을 보이고 있다. 중국기업의 효율성결정 요인을 분석한 결과 1인당 자본이나 평균교육년수;도로연장률 등은 통계적으로 유의한 정의 부호를 보이고 있어 물적;인적자본축적이 기업효율성을 높이는 요인으로 나타났으나 향후 임금상승이 중국의 기업효율성 증대에 장애요인으로 작용할 수 있음을 시사해 주고 있다. 또한 지역의 대외개방도가 높을수록 기업효율성이 높으며 외국인 투자가 기술이전과 경영기술의 이전 등을 통해 기업효율성 향상에 기여하고 있음을 확인할 수 있다.

영문 초록

This paper measures technical efficiency and Total Factor Productivity of Chinese firms and analyzes determinants of technical efficiency during the period of 2003-2011. The principle findings of this study are as follows. First;the average technical efficiency of Chinese firms is about 75%;meaning that Chinese firms are producing 25% less than the achievable potential output. While firms in Western and Central provinces have gained in terms of technical efficiency;those of Eastern province have no significant improvements. Second;chinese firms marked annual productivity increase of 10.1% during this period and technology progress is the main contributor to productivity growth. Third;while technical efficiency positively associated with volume of physical and human capital;amount of foreign direct investment and foreign trade;average wage have negative effects on technical efficiency. Finally;the findings in this study should be viewed as tentative since the measurement of efficiency still has potential sources of bias due to limitations on availability of more detailed data.
