유치원 교사의 유아 평가 경험에 관한 의미 탐색: 공립 단설유치원 교사를 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 2019 개정 누리과정의 유아⋅놀이 중심 교육과정 실행 속에서 교사들이 유아의 놀이와 배움을 어떻게 연결하여 평가하는지를 탐색하였다. 특히 교사가 유아의 발달과 성장을 어떻게 인식하고 지원하며 평가하는지 심층적으로 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 경기도 H시 소재 공립 단설유치원에 재직 중인 유아교사 3인을 연구 참여자로 선정하고, 약 4개월에 걸쳐 그룹 및 개인 심층 면담 내용과 기타 자료를 분석하였다. 연구 결과‘놀이 안에서 이루어지는 평가’, ‘변화에 유연한 평가’,‘교사를 성장시키는 평가’, ‘외부 요인에 영향을 받는 평가’ 네 가지 범주를 도출하였다. 교사들은 유아 평가를 단순한 결과 중심이 아니라 유아의 발달과정 전반을 관찰하고 이해하는 과정으로 인식하고 있었으며, 놀이 과정에서 자연스럽게 평가를 수행하였다. 또한, 유아의 변화 가능성을 열린 시선으로 바라보며 유연한 평가를 지향하고 있었다. 이와 함께 교사들은 평가를 통해 자신의 전문성과 교육적 성찰을 강화해 나가고 있었다. 그러나 관리자의 요구나 학부모의 기대 등 외부 요인은 교사에게 부담으로 작용하기도 했다. 이러한 결과는 놀이 중심 교육과정 속 유아 평가의 방향성과 교사의 전문성 강화를 위한 시사점을 제공한다.

영문 초록

This study explores how kindergarten teachers connect children’s play with learning while implementing the 2019 revised Nuri Curriculum, which emphasizes a child- and play-center lay-centered approach. It investigates how teachers perceive, support, and assess young children's development. Three early childhood teachers from a public independent kindergarten in H City, Gyeonggi Province participated. Data were collected over four months through group and individual in-depth interviews and supplementary materials. he analysis identified four key themes: “Assessment Embedded in Play”,“Flexible Assessment Adaptable to Change”,“Assessment that Fosters Teacher Growth”and “Assessment Influenced by External Factors.” Teachers understood assessment as a process of observing and supporting developmental progress, rather than measuring fixed outcomes. They conducted assessments naturally during play and held an open perspective on children's growth potential. The process also contributed to their professional development and reflective practice. However, external pressures such as administrative demands and parental expectations sometimes hindered this process. The findings provide insights into meaningful child assessment and the role of teacher professionalism within a play-based curriculum.
