청소년의 정신건강과 복합중독과의 관계: 성별 차이를 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 청소년의 정신건강과 복합중독과의 관계에 있어 성별 차이를 검증하였다. 이를 기초로 성별에 따라 정신건강 증진 및 중독문제 예방을 위한 실천적․정책적 방향을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 제19차(2023년) 청소년건강행태 온라인 조사를 활용하였으며, 남학생 26,769명과 여학생 26,111명을 대상으로 분석하였다. 자료는 SPSS 21.0 프로그램에서 복합표본분석방법을 활용하여 분석하였다. 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 청소년의 성별에 따른 정신건강에 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 특히 남학생에 비해 여학생의 정신건강이 매우 취약한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 청소년의 중독문제에서 남학생은 여학생에 비해 위험음주, 복합흡연 비율이 높게 나타났고, 2개 이상의 복합중독 유형에 해당하는 비율이 높게 나타났다. 반면에 16개 중독 유형 패턴 중 4개의 모든 중독에 해당하는 여학생의 비율이 남학생보다 높았다. 셋째, 복합중독 위험을 높이는 정신건강 요인으로 우울은 남학생과 여학생 모두 유의미하였고, 불안은 남학생, 자살생각은 여학생의 복합중독 위험을 높이는 요인으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 토대로 청소년 정신건강 증진과 중독문제 예방에 대해 제언하였다.

영문 초록

This study investigates gender differences in the relationship between adolescents' mental health and Multiple addictions. Based on the findings, the goal is to propose practical and policy-oriented directions for promoting mental health and preventing addiction issues according to gender. For this purpose, data from the 19th (2023) Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey (KYRBS) were utilized, analyzing responses from 26,769 male and 26,111 female students. The data were analyzed using complex sample analysis methods in SPSS 21.0. The main findings are as follows. First, It was found that there was a significant difference in mental health according to the gender of adolescents. In particular, female students exhibited greater vulnerability in mental health compared to their male counterparts. Second, in terms of addiction-related behaviors, male students demonstrated higher rates of hazardous drinking and polysmoking than female students, as well as a greater prevalence of engaging in two or more types of Multiple addictions. However, among the 16 addiction patterns examined, the proportion of female students classified under all four major addiction categories was higher than that of male students. Third, depression was a significant mental health factor increasing the risk of Multiple addictions for both male and female students, whereas anxiety was a significant risk factor for males and suicidal ideation for females. Based on these findings, suggestions were made on the promotion of adolescent mental health and prevention of addiction problems.
