청년의 니트 경험과 극복과정에 대한 질적 메타요약: 사회정의 상담을 중심으로

국문 초록

연구목적: 본 연구는 질적연구를 종합하는 질적 메타요약 방법을 적용하여 니트 상태에서의 경험과 어려움을 극복하는 과정에 대해 사회정의 상담의 관점으로 확장적인 해석을 제시하는 목적으로 실시되었다. 연구방법: 이를 위해 니트청년 관련 질적연구물을 수집하고, 선정 기준에 맞는 16편의 논문을 대상으로 질적 메타요약 방법으로 각 연구의 결과를 토대로 니트 청년 경험에 대해 분석하였다. 연구결과: 268개의 의미단위를 수집하고, 공통적인 의미단위를 묶어서 31개의 기술적 주제, 12개의 종합적 주제, 그리고 6개의 핵심주제를 도출하였다. 도출된 핵심주제는 니트 상태로의 진입(막힌 길 앞에서, 멀어지는 꿈, 희망이 사라진 자리, 멈춰버린 발걸음), 니트 상태에서의 단절과 심리적 위축(세상의 시선 속에서 움츠러든 마음), 변화의 계기(다시 손을 잡고, 길을 찾다), 회복과 성장(내 속도로 한 걸음씩, 나만의 길을 만들다, 내가 선택하는 삶, 내 방식대로 살아가다)의 4개 영역으로 정리되었다. 첫째, 니트 상태로의 진입 영역은 ‘진로 지원체계의 부재(43.75%)’, ‘많은 스펙과 경력을 요구하는 취업의 높은 벽(56.25%)’, ‘반복되는 취업 실패와 좌절(37.5%)’ 등의 기술적 주제가 포함되었다. 둘째, 니트 상태에서의 단절과 심리적 위축 영역은 ‘아등바등 일하면서 살고 싶지 않다(37.5%)’, ‘집 밖에 나오기 힘든 무기력 상태(43.75%)’, ‘자택과 불안으로 무너진 자존감(56.25%)’ 등의 기술적 주제가 포함되었다. 다음으로, 변화의 계기 영역은 ‘다시 일어설 용기가 생기다(43.75%)’, ‘지원프로그램에 참여하다(37.5%)’ 등이 포함되었고, 마지막으로 회복과 성장 영역은 ‘니트 상태에 있는 자신을 수용하다(43.75%)’, ‘휴식하며 원하는 삶에 대해 고민하다(37.5%)’, ‘삶의 의욕이 생기다(37.5%)’, ‘목표를 차근차근 이뤄나가다(37.5%)’ 등의 기술적 주제가 포함되었다. 논의 및 결론: 이러한 분석 결과를 바탕으로 니트 청년의 사회정의 상담적 개입 방안과 후속 연구를 위한 제언에 대해 논의하고 본 연구의 한계점을 도출하였다.

영문 초록

Purpose: This study applies the qualitative metasummary method to synthesize existing qualitative research findings and provide an expanded interpretation of the experiences of NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) youth and their processes in overcoming difficulties. The analysis is conducted from the perspective of social justice counseling to explore ways to better support these individuals. Method: Sixteen qualitative studies on NEET youth were collected according to the established criteria using the qualitative meta-summary approach. The study examined the experiences of NEET youth based on the results of these selected studies. Results: The core themes derived from the study were organized into four domains: entering into NEET state (Blocked paths, fading dreams, Disappearing hopes, and halted steps), disconnection and psychological contraction in the NEET state (Withdrawn under societal scrutiny), triggers for change (Reaching out again, finding a way), and recovery and growth (Moving at my own pace, carving my own path, Choosing my life, living my way). First, the area of entering into NEET state included technical themes such as the absence of a career support system (43.75%), high barriers to employment demanding extensive qualifications and experience (56.25%), and repeated job-seeking failures and frustrations (37.5%). Secondly, the area of disconnection and psychological contraction in the NEET state included themes such as unwilling to struggle just to get by (37.5%), lethargy and making it hard to leave the house (43.75%), and damaged self-esteem due to isolation and anxiety (56.25%). Next, the triggers for change included gaining the courage to stand up again (43.75%) and participating in support programs (37.5%). Finally, the area of recovery and growth included accepting oneself in the NEET state (43.75%), contemplating the desired life during a break (37.5%), regaining motivation for life (37.5%), and gradually achieving personal goals (37.5%). Conclusion: Based on these findings, this study discusses intervention strategies for social justice counseling to support NEET youth and suggests directions for future research, along with a reflection on the study’s limitations.
