국문 초록

목적: 본 연구는 텍스트의 정보가 표현되는 방식이 독자의 이해에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 탐색함으로써, 독서 수업에서 텍스트 구성 및 활용 측면에 관한 시사점을 도출하고자 하였다. 방법: 연구에서는 중학생들이 정보 표현 측면에서 서로 다르게 구조화된 텍스트를 읽게 하고, 텍스트 유형이 사실적 이해 및 감상적, 비판적, 창의적 이해에 어떤 영향을 끼치는지 검증하였다. ERI 진단을 통해 집단별 동질성을 확인하였으며, 사후 진단은 1, 2차로 나누어 동형의 텍스트를 반복해 읽는 것의 효과도 함께 살펴보았다. 결과: 연구 결과, 정보를 개조식으로 표현한 텍스트를 읽은 집단의 사실적 이해 점수가 뚜렷이 높은 것으로 확인되었으며, 그림 자료의 추가 제공도 미시적인 영향이 있었던 것으로 확인되었다. 개조식 텍스트는 비판적 이해 차원에서도 일정 정도 유의한 효과가 있었다. 결론: 정보를 개조식으로 제시하는 것은 학생들이 글 내용을 수월히 이해하는 데 도움이 되는 것으로 보인다. 더불어 개조식 구성의 다양한 방식 및 그림 자료의 효과 등에 대한 다양한 각도의 후속 연구가 필요한 것으로 판단된다.

영문 초록

Purpose: This study aimed to explore how the type of information presentation in a text affects readers’ comprehension, and to derive implications for the organization and use of texts in reading classes. Methods: In the study, middle school students read texts that were presented differently in terms of information organization, and the study examined how the type of information organization in the text affected factual comprehension, aesthetic, critical, and creative comprehension. ERI diagnosis was used to confirm the homogeneity of each group, and the post-diagnosis was divided into 1st and 2nd rounds to examine the effects of repeatedly reading the same text. Results: The study found that the group that read the text with information organized in a modular format had significantly higher scores in factual understanding, and the addition of visual materials also had a micro-level impact. The reformulated text also had a certain degree of significant effect in terms of critical understanding. Conclusion: Presenting information in a reformulated way seems to help students understand the content of the text easily. In addition, further research is needed from various angles on the various ways of reformulating and the effects of visual materials.
