국문 초록

본 연구는 제3국 출생 북한이탈주민 자녀를 위한 맞춤형 한국어 교재의 개발 방향을 탐색하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 북한이탈주민 청소년을 지원하는 8개 기관의 행정가 및 교사 총 16명을 대상으로 심층 면담을 수행하였다. 환경 분석 결과, 제3국 출생 북한이탈주민 자녀들은 한국 입국 당시 일반적으로 기초적인 한국어 능력을 가지고 있었으나, 학습 결손을 보완하고 검정고시를 준비하기 위해 입국 후 약 2~3년 동안 집중적인 한국어 교육을 받고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 본 연구에서는 교재 개발의 주된 대상 집단을 만 14세 이상의 청소년으로 설정하였으며, 교재 개발의 구체적인 방향으로는 (a) 자립적인 한국 생활 적응을 지원하는 교재, (b) 일반 지식 및 상식 확장을 위한 교재, (c) 교과 학습에 필요한 기초 지식 습득 교재, (d) 적성 및 진로 탐색을 위한 교재, (e) 긍정적 자아 정체성 형성을 돕는 교재, (f) 상호문화적 관점에서 한국 문화를 이해할 수 있는 교재, (g) 다양한 환경에서 활용 가능한 자기 주도적 학습이 가능한 교재를 제안하였다. 한국어 능력 수준 Pre-1 단계부터 TOPIK 4급까지의 학습자를 대상으로 하며, 주요 교재 외에도 보조 자료, 어휘집, 평가 자료, 교사용 지도서 등 세부적인 구성 요소별 개발 방향을 제시하였다. 본 연구는 제3국 출생 북한이탈주민 자녀의 환경적·발달적 특성 및 교육 현장의 요구를 포괄적으로 반영한 한국어 교재의 개발 방향을 제시하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The primary purpose of this study was to explore the development of Korean language materials tailored for children of North Korean defectors born in third countries. To achieve this, in-depth interviews were conducted with 16 administrators and teachers from eight organizations supporting North Korean defector youth. Environmental analysis revealed that these children generally possess a basic level of Korean proficiency upon arriving in South Korea. However, many undergo two to three years of intensive Korean language education to address academic deficiencies and prepare for the GED exam. This study identified adolescents aged 14 and above as the primary target group for Korean language textbooks. The proposed directions for textbook development include: (a) materials for independent adaptation to life in Korea, (b) materials for expanding general knowledge and common sense, (c) materials for acquiring foundational knowledge in general subjects, (d) materials for aptitude and career exploration, (e) materials for fostering a positive self-identity, (f) materials addressing Korean culture from a constructive perspective, and (g) materials enabling self-directed learning in diverse environments. The textbooks were designed to span proficiency levels from Pre-1 to TOPIK Level 4, with detailed development trajectories outlined for key components, including main textbooks, supplementary materials, vocabulary books, assessments, and teacher’s guides. This study highlights the importance of reflecting institutional educational needs and provides a comprehensive framework for developing Korean language teaching materials that address the unique environmental and developmental characteristics of children of North Korean defectors born in third countries.
