조선업 외국인 근로자 대상 한국어 교재 개발을 위한 기초 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 산업현장 밀착형 사회통합프로그램에 참여한 외국인 근로자들의 한국어 교육에 대한 인식과 요구를 조사하여 근로자 대상 한국어 교재 개발의 방향을 제시하는 것이다. 최근 급증한 국내 체류 외국인 근로자 대상으로 산업현장 밀착형 사회통합 프로그램이 시행되고 있으나, 현행 사회통합프로그램 교재는 외국인 근로자의 교육적 요구를 적절하게 반영하지 못하고 있다. 이에 효과적인 외국인 근로자 교육을 위한 한국어 교재 개발의 방향을 확인하기 위해 경남의 사회통합프로그램 참여 근로자 282명을 대상으로 교육적 요구를 확인하는 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 응답자들은 현행 교재에 대해 만족하였으나 향후 교육에서 직무 관련 한국어 학습을 희망하였다. 둘째, 재직 중인 기업과 국적에 따라 이들의 교육적 요구는 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 셋째, 상관분석에서는 듣기 학습 요구가 다른 언어 기능 요구와 높은 상관성을 보였고, 읽기 학습 요구는 일상생활 및 업무 관련 내용 학습 요구 모두와 높은 상관성을 나타냈다. 넷째, 회귀분석 결과 현행 교재 만족도는 교재의 일상생활 도움 정도와 향후 업무 관련 학습 희망에 유의한 영향을 받는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 분석 결과를 바탕으로 외국인 근로자 맞춤형 교재의 개발 방향으로 현행 교재의 장점을 살리되 학습자의 국적과 재직 중인 기업을 고려할 것, 듣기 중심으로 언어기능을 통합하여 학습할 수 있도록 구성할 것, 교육 단계별로 직무 관련 내용의 비중을 점진적으로 높이는 방식으로 개발할 것을 제안하였다. 본 연구는 외국인 근로자의 교육적 요구를 실증적으로 분석하여 구체적인 교재 개발의 방향을 제시하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study aims to analyze the educational needs of international workers on the Korean Immigration and Integration Program (KIIP) and suggest directions for developing the new Korean language textbooks for these workers. The current KIIP provides the essential Korean language and culture education for international workers in Korea but often fails to address their specific educational needs adequately. To explore these needs, a survey involving 282 international workers on the KIIP in Gyeongnam Province was conducted and the main findings are as follows: First, respondents expressed high satisfaction with current textbooks, hoping to learn work-related Korean language in future. Second, significant differences in educational needs were identified according to their workplace and nationality. Third, correlation analysis indicated that the need for listening skills were highly correlated with the need for other language skills, and that the need for reading skills demonstrated high correlations with the desires to learn Korean language for their daily life and work respectively. Fourth, regression analysis confirmed that textbook satisfaction was significantly influenced by the perceived utility of the current textbook and the aspiration to learn Korean language for their work in future. Based on these findings, new textbooks for these workers should maintain the strengths of current KIIP textbooks while considering learners' nationalities and workplaces; they should emphasize the listening skills, integrating listening with other language skills; the proportion of work-related content should be increasing gradually. The significance of this study lies in the empirical analysis of international workers’ educational needs, providing specific and data-based directions for developing new Korean textbooks.
