며느리설화를 활용한 한국문화교육 - 여성결혼이민자를 중심으로

국문 초록

본고는 여성결혼이민자들이 실제 결혼생활을 하면서 겪고 있는 고부갈등을 문화적 차원으로 논하고자 한다. 그들은 자신들이 재정적 또는경제적 문제를 포함한 다양한 원인에 의해 한국으로 왔기 때문에 시어머니가 자신들을 무시하고 괴롭힌다는 열등감을 가지고 있다. 그러나고부갈등은 그들뿐만 아니라 한국의 모든 며느리들이 겪고 있는 것이기 때문에 그들이 열등감을 가질 필요가 없다. 이에 그들의 감정을 공감해주고 한국사회의 모든 여성들이 가지고 있는 갈등이라는 것에 대해 이해와 수용을 시켜줘야 한다고 생각한다. 그 하나의 방법으로 며느리설화를 활용한 한국문화교육이다. 며느리설화에는 며느리의 고된 삶이 나타나고 있다. 그러나 며느리 유형에 따라 고부갈등을 극복하지 못하여 불행한 결말을 맺는 실패담과고부갈등을 강한 의지로 극복해 결국에는 가족의 일원으로 인정받는고부갈등의 성공담으로 분류된다. 그들은 고부갈등의 실패담이나 성공담을 통해 자신뿐만 아니라 시대를 불문하고 누구나 겪는 문제라고 받아들이게 될 것이며, 한국의 모자(母子)관계 및 한국문화에 대한 이해와 수용을 할 수 있는 계기가 될것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to discuss, fromthe cultural aspect, the conflict between mother-in-law and daughter-in-lawin married female immigrants in Korea. Married female immigrants areafflicted with an inferiority complex because they have often come toKorea for socio-economic or other similar reasons and mothers-in-lawneglect them. However, married female immigrants do not need to havean inferiority complex when it comes to the conflict between mother-inlawand daughter-in-law because every daughter-in-law in Korea experiencesit. Thus, it is needed to make married female immigrants aware thatthis conflict is one that every married woman in Korea experiences so thatthey can live in confidence as a family member. One of the methods forovercoming possible conflicts with mothers-in-law is to adopt Koreanculture education using daughter-in-law fables. Daughter-in-law fablescontain the anguish, agony, joys and sorrows of daughter-in-law. However,daughter-in-law fables are divided into failure tales and success tales withrespect to the conflict. In success tales, daughter-in-law overcome theconflict with strong will and they are acknowledged as a family memberin the end. Through these failure tales and success tales of the conflict betweenmother-in-law and daughter-in-law, married female immigrants will beable to understand that this conflict is a problem that every womanexperiences in Korea regardless of ages or regions, and then they will beable to accept the relationship between mother-in-law and husbands inKorea and also the related Korean cultures.
