인공지능 시대의 기술철학 담론 - 인문학적, 공학적, 통합적 관점을 중심으로

국문 초록

이 연구는 AI 시대에 기술철학의 인문학적 관점과 공학적 관점, 통합적 관점을 모두 고찰하여 AI를 중심으로 기술철학을 탐구하는 것을 목표로 하였으며, 주요 연구 질문은 다음과 같다. 즉, 인문학적 기술철학은 AI의 발전과 잠재력을 어떻게 보는가? 공학적 기술철학은 AI가 인간의 삶에 미치는 영향을 어떻게 비판적으로 평가하는가? 이러한 관점을 통합함으로써 어떤 통찰력을 얻을 수 있는가? 이를 위하여 AI, 공학과 철학에 관련된 연구물을 비판적으로 분석하여 종합하였다. 이 연구에서의 방법은 기술철학과 관련된 문헌을 비교 분석하여 비판적으로 고찰하고 성찰하였다. 이러한 질문을 탐색한 결과에 기초한 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, AI에 대한 인문학적 기술철학은 AI가 인간의 삶과 사회에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 평가하는 비판적이고 반성적인 접근 방식을 취한다. 이러한 관점은 윤리, 편견, 자율성, 사회 정의와 관련된 우려를 강조한다. 인문학적 철학자들은 AI가 인간의 능력을 강화할 수 있지만, 일자리 대체, 사생활 침해, 기존 사회적 불평등 강화와 같은 위험도 제기한다고 주장한다. 이들은 기술이 인간의 가치와 권리에 봉사하도록 보장하면서 AI 개발에 대한 신중하고 윤리적인 접근 방식을 옹호한다. 둘째, 공학적 기술철학은 AI 개발을 낙관적으로 바라보며 기술 발전과 미래 잠재력에 초점을 맞춘다. 엔지니어는 AI 시스템의 혁신, 효율성 및 기능을 우선시하고 의료, 교통, 교육을 포함한 다양한 영역에 걸쳐 혁신적인 영향을 구상한다. 공학 관점에서는 AI가 복잡한 문제를 해결하고, 생산성을 향상시키며, 자동화와 향상된 의사결정 프로세스를 통해 경제 성장을 촉진할 수 있는 잠재력을 강조한다. 셋째, 공학적 관점과 인문학적 관점을 통합하면 AI에 대한 포괄적인 이해가 가능하다. 이러한 통합을 통해 기술적으로 강력할 뿐만 아니라 윤리적으로 건전하고 사회적으로 책임 있는 AI 기술을 개발할 수 있다. 이러한 관점을 결합하면 자율성과 존엄성을 유지하면서 인간의 능력을 향상시키는 인간 중심 AI 시스템의 산출물이 촉진된다. 이러한 전체적인 접근 방식은 AI가 공정성, 투명성 및 지속 가능성을 촉진하여 사회에 긍정적으로 기여하도록 보장한다. 기술철학의 세가지 관점과 관련된 향후 연구에 대한 제안으로, 공학 관점에서의 기술철학은 AI 시스템의 견고성과 안전성, AI 알고리즘의 설계 및 구현에 윤리적 고려사항에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 인문학적 관점에서의 기술철학은 AI가 인간 정체성과 사회에 미치는 영향, AI 거버넌스를 위한 윤리적 프레임워크에 대한 연구이다. 통합적 관점에서의 기술철학은 AI로 인해 발생하는 학제간 협력, AI 시스템의 포괄적이고 참여적인 설계 방법, AI가 사회에 미치는 장기적인 영향을 평가 연구 등의 후속 연구가 필요하다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to explore the philosophy of technology with a focus on AI, considering perspectives from engineering and the humanities and their integration in this AI era. The main research questions were: How does engineering philosophy view the development and potential of AI? How does the humanistic philosophy critically evaluate the impact of AI on human life? What insights can be gained by integrating these perspectives? The study’s conclusions are as follows: First, engineering technology philosophy takes an optimistic view of AI development, emphasizing technological advancement and future potential. Engineers prioritize innovation, efficiency, and the functionality of AI systems, envisioning transformative impacts across various domains, including healthcare, transportation, and education. Second, the humanistic philosophy takes a critical and reflective approach, evaluating AI’s impact on human life and society. This perspective highlights concerns related to ethics, bias, autonomy, and social justice. Third, a comprehensive understanding of AI can be achieved by integrating engineering and humanities perspectives. This integration enables the development of AI technologies that are not only technologically robust but also ethically sound and socially responsible. Such integration fosters human-centered AI systems that augment human capabilities while preserving autonomy and dignity. Future research suggestions include: from an engineering perspective, exploring ethical considerations in the design and implementation of AI algorithms; from a humanistic perspective, examining AI’s impact on human identity and society; and from an integrated perspective, conducting longitudinal research evaluating AI’s long-term societal impact.
