초등학교 실과와 학교 자율시간의 연계 방안

국문 초록

2022 개정 교육과정에서는 학생들에게 실생활에서의 문제 해결 능력과 창의적 사고를 길러주기 위해 학교 자율시간이 도입되었다. 이 연구는 초등학교 실과와 학교 자율시간을 연계하여 교육의 질을 높이고, 학생들의 전인적 성장을 지원하는 방안을 모색하기 위해 추진하였다. 연구의 방법은 문헌 연구와 사례 분석을 적용하였으며, 창의적 체험활동과 학교 자율시간의 도입 배경, 학교 자율시간의 설계 모형, 과목 및 활동 개발 사례 등을 주요 연구 내용으로 설정하였다. 실과 교육은 주로 가정, 기술, 농업, 정보 등의 분야에서 기초적인 지식과 기술을 제공하며, 이를 통해 학생들이 실생활에서 필요한 역량을 기르도록 돕는다. 그러나 기존 교과 중심의 수업만으로는 이러한 역량을 충분히 개발하기 어려운 점이 있다. 이에 따라 학교 자율시간을 활용한 실과와의 연계 방안은 학생들에게 창의적인 문제 해결 능력과 실천적 역량을 배양할 기회를 제공한다. 이 연구는 실과 중심 학교 자율시간의 개발모형과 사례를 제시하여 교육 현장에서의 실질적인 적용 가능성을 높이는 데 중점을 두었으며, 초등학교 실과 교육의 발전에도 이바지하고자 하였다. 특히 실과 중심의 학교 자율활동을 학년 연계모형과 심화 모형으로 구분하여 제시하였으며, 활동의 방향이 일관성 있게 진행될 수 있도록 교육과정이 추구하는 인간상과 핵심역량의 연계 방안을 함께 제시하였다. 활동의 주제를 추출하기 위해 실과의 성취기준을 모 학문 중심으로 분석한 후, 핵심 개념을 추출하여 제시하였다. 마지막으로 실과 관련 학회가 협력하여 학교 자율과목이나 활동을 체계적으로 연구하고 개발해나갈 것을 제언한다.

영문 초록

The 2022 revised curriculum introduced school autonomous time to foster problem-solving skills and creative thinking in real-life contexts. This study aims to enhance education quality and support students’ holistic development by integrating elementary practical arts education with school autonomous time. Employing a literature review and case analysis, the research explored the background of introducing creative experiential activities and school autonomous time, the design model for the latter, and the development cases of subjects and activities. Practical arts education primarily provides foundational knowledge and skills in areas such as home economics, technology, agriculture, and information, equipping students with competencies essential for daily life. However, traditional subject-centered lessons may not fully cultivate these competencies. Therefore, linking practical arts education with school autonomous time allows students to foster creative problem-solving and practical skills. This study presents development models and examples of Practical Arts-focused school autonomous time, emphasizing their practical application in education and advancing elementary practical arts education. Specifically, it proposes two models for Practical Arts-centered school autonomous activities across grade levels—the connection model and a deepening model. The study also suggests aligning activities with the curriculum’s desired human qualities and core competencies to maintain consistency. To derive activity themes, the achievement standards of practical arts were analyzed by academic disciplines, identifying key concepts. Lastly, the study recommends that related academic societies collaborate to systematically research and develop school autonomous subjects or activities.
