한국어-한국수화 동시통역의 시간적 양상 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 한국어-한국수화동시통역 과정에서 나타나는 시간 변인들 간의 관계를 타임랙 현상을 중심으로 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 국가공인자격 수화통역사 5명에게 동일한 원문을 동시통역하게 하여 원문의 발화시간과 통역시간, 문두시차(EVS)와 문말시차(TTS), 원문과 통역 간 휴지를 비교하고 마지막으로 시간 변인들 간의 상관관계를 분석하였다. 분석의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 원문 발화시간보다 수화통역시간이 7~17% 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 문두시차와 문말시차를 비교했을 때 모든 참여자에게서 문두시차보다 문말시차가 더 길게 나왔다. 셋째, 원문과 통역 간의 휴지 길이를 비교했을 때 원문보다 통역의 휴지가 짧게 나왔다. 이는 영한동시통역에서 원문 휴지가 더 길게 나온 결과와 상반된 결과였다. 시간 변인 간의 상관관계 분석에서는 문말시차와 문두시차, 통역시간, 분당 음절 수와 정적 상관관계가 있었다.

영문 초록

This study investigated the relationship between time variables appearing in the simultaneous interpreting process of Korean-Korean sign language based on the time lag phenomenon. For this, this study compared speech time, interpretation time, ear-to-voice-span (EVS), tail-to-tail span (TTS) and the pause between the original text and interpretation and analyzed the correlation between time variables after having five (5) sign language interpreters with a nationally recognized certificate simultaneously interpret the same original text. The results of this study are as follows: first, the interpretation time of sign language was shown to increase by 7 to 17% rather than the speech time of the original text; second, EVS was longer than TTS for all participants when EVS and TTS were compared; and lastly, the pause of interpretation was shorter than one of the original text when the pause length between the original text and interpretation. This was different from the result that the pause of the original text was longer in Korean-English simultaneous interpretation. As for an analysis on the correlation between time variables, there was a positive relationship between not only EVS and TTS but also interpretation and speech time.
