불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족과 불안의 관계: 자기자비와 긍정적 재평가의 매개효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족으로 인해 불안이 발생하는 과정을 이해하고, 이 과정에서 자기자비와 긍정적 재평가의 매개 역할을 밝힘으로써 심리 개입의 기초자료를 마련하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 20∼60세 미만 성인 남녀 400명을 대상으로 온라인 설문조사를 실시하고, SPSS 29.0과 PROCESS Macro v4.2를 이용해 자료를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족은 불안과 유의한 정적 상관을, 자기자비와는 유의한 부적 상관을 보였으나 긍정적 재평가와의 상관관계는 유의하지 않았다. 자기자비는 긍정적 재평가와 유의한 정적 상관을, 불안과 유의한 부적 상관을 나타냈다. 둘째, 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족과 불안과의 관계에서 자기자비의 단순 매개효과는 유의하였으나, 긍정적 재평가의 단순 매개효과는 유의하지 않았다. 셋째, 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족과 불안의 관계에서 자기자비와 긍정적 재평가의 순차적 매개효과가 유의하였다. 이러한 결과는 불확실성에 대한 인내력이 부족한 개인이 긍정적 재평가를 통해 불안을 낮추기 위해서는 자비로운 마음 함양이 선행되어야 함을 의미한다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 상담 개입의 시사점과 연구의 의의 및 후속 연구의 제안점을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to examine the mechanism by which intolerance of uncertainty contributes to anxiety, focusing on the mediating roles of self-compassion and positive reappraisal. The aim was to provide foundational evidence for psychological interventions. An online survey was conducted with 400 adults aged 20 to under 59, and data were analyzed using SPSS 29.0 and PROCESS Macro v4.2. The results were as follows: First, intolerance of uncertainty was positively associated with anxiety and negatively associated with self-compassion, whereas its association with positive reappraisal was nonsignificant. Self-compassion was positively related to positive reappraisal and negatively related to anxiety. Second, mediation analyses showed that self-compassion significantly mediated the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and anxiety, while positive reappraisal did not. Third, a significant sequential mediation emerged: intolerance of uncertainty predicted lower self-scompassion, which in turn predicted reduced positive reappraisal, ultimately leading to higher anxiety. These findings suggest that cultivating self-compassion may be a prerequisite for the effective use of positive reappraisal strategies in regulating anxiety under uncertainty. Implications for counseling interventions and directions for future research are discussed.
