국문 초록

본 연구는 2세 영아가 숲 산책을 하는 동안 경험하는 본질과 의미를 탐색하기 위한 현상학적 연구이다. 연구자는 Max van Manen의 해석학적 현상학 방법론을 적용하여, 영아의 경험을 신체성, 시간성, 공간성, 관계성이라는 네 가지 실존적 존재 방식으로 분석하였다. 2023년 4월부터 12월까지 8개월 동안 B어린이집에 재원 중인 2세 영아 10명을 대상으로 총 43회의 숲 산책 참여 관찰이 이루어졌으며, 영상 및 사진 자료, 교사 인터뷰, 현장 노트를 통해 자료가 수집되었다. 연구결과 영아는 자연 환경 속에서 자율적이고 능동적으로 움직이며 새로운 감각을 확장하고, 주변 세계와의 감각적 상호작용을 경험하였다. 또한 몰입과 멈춤, 계절 변화에 대한 인식을 통해 시간적 흐름을 체감하였고, 숲을 상상 놀이와 사회적 상호작용의 공간으로 변형시키며 공간성을 풍부하게 구성하였다. 이 과정에서 또래 및 교사, 자연과의 관계성을 형성하며 자아와 타자에 대한 인식을 확장하였다. 결론적으로, 숲 산책은 2세 영아에게 신체적․정서적․사회적 발달을 통합적으로 자극하는 풍부한 경험임이 드러났다. 이는 영아의 전인적 발달을 지원하는 자연 기반 교육의 중요성을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This phenomenological study explored the essence and meaning of two-year-old infants' experiences during forest walks. Applying Max van Manen's hermeneutic phenomenology methodology, the researcher analyzed the infants' experiences across four existential dimensions: corporeality, temporality, spatiality, and relationality. A total of 43 forest walks were observed with ten two-year-old infants attending Daycare Center B over an eight-month period from April to December 2023. Data were collected through video and photographic footage, teacher interviews, and field notes. The results revealed that the infants actively and autonomously moved within the natural environment, expanding their senses and experiencing sensory interactions with the surrounding world. Furthermore, they experienced the passage of time through immersion, pauses, and awareness of seasonal changes. They also transformed the forest into a space for imaginative play and social interaction, enriching spatiality. Through this process, they developed relationships with peers, teachers, and nature, expanding their understanding of self and others. In conclusion, forest walks were found to be a rich experience that comprehensively stimulates the physical, emotional, and social development of two-year-old infants. This study highlights the significance of nature-based education in fostering the holistic development of infants.
