초등 예비교사의 교육실습 지도교수 역량에 대한 인식 분석: 포커스 그룹 인터뷰(FGI)를 활용한 질적 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 초등 예비교사를 대상으로 교육실습 지도교수의 역량과 역할에 대한 인식을 심층적으로 분석하기 위해 수행되었다. 이를 위해 포커스 그룹 인터뷰(FGI)를 활용한 질적 분석을 한 결과, 초등 예비교사들의 교육실습 지도교수 역량 및 역할에 대한 인식은 크게 수퍼바이저 및 모델, 의사소통자 및 격려자, 교수-학습 전문가, 생활지도‧학급운영 전문가, 학자 및 연구자의 5개 내용영역으로 분류되었고, 그에 따른 13개의 범주, 40개의 하위범주가 도출되었다. 즉, 예비교사들은 지도교수가 교육실습을 관리감독하는 수퍼바이저(supervisor) 및 모델(model)로서 기능하며, 실제 사례 공유와 간접 체험을 통해 심리적 안정감 및 격려와 용기를 제공하고, 수업운영과 관련하여 구체적으로 지도조언하며, 학생의 특성과 흥미 등에 따른 교육 방법을 지도하고, 학자로서 학문적 바탕 및 이론적 설명을 제공하는 것으로 인식하였다. 반면 다른 한편에서 예비교사들은 교육실습 지도교수의 역량과 역할에 있어서 차이가 발생하며 다른 입장을 제시하기도 하였다. 따라서 교원양성기관에서는 이러한 내용을 바탕으로 실습지도교수의 역량과 역할의 기준과 범위를 명확히 하고, 이를 뒷받침하는 교육적, 제도적, 교육적 지원과 노력을 지속적으로 해야 한다. 본 연구는 FGI 분석을 통해 교육실습 지도교수의 역량과 역할을 수요자인 예비교사의 관점에서 심층적으로 살펴보고, 교육실습 지도교수의 역할을 실질적으로 확장하고, 실습지원체계를 제도화하는 데 기여함으로써 장기적으로는 교육실습의 질적 제고와 교사양성의 실천적 내실화를 도모하는 데 기여할 수 있다는 점에서 의미가 크다.

영문 초록

This study was conducted to deeply analyze elementary pre-service teachers’ perceptions of the competencies and roles of university Supervisors. The results of qualitative analysis using focus group interviews (FGI) are as follows. That is, elementary pre-service teachers’ perceptions of the competencies and roles of university Supervisors were largely divided into five content areas: Supervisor and Model, Communicator and Encouragement, Teaching-Learning Expert, Guidance/Classroom Management Expert, Scholar and Researcher, 13 categories, and 40 subcategories. Specifically, pre-service teachers perceived that Supervisors function as supervisors and models who manage and supervise teaching practice, provide psychological stability and encouragement through case sharing and indirect experience, provide specific guidance advice on class management, explain guidance methods according to students’ characteristics and interests, and provide academic explanations as scholars. On the other hand, prospective teachers also presented different positions on the competencies and roles of university Supervisors. Therefore, teacher training institutions should clarify the standards and scope of the competencies and roles of university Supervisors and continuously strive to provide educational, institutional, and educational support to support them. This study is significant in that it can contribute to improving the quality of teaching practicum in the long term by deeply examining the competencies and roles of university Supervisors from the perspective of the users through FGI analysis, substantially expanding the role of university Supervisors, and institutionalizing the support system.
