일반대학원의 문제점과 개선 방안 탐색

국문 초록

이 연구는 일반대학원이 직면한 문제, 특히 대학원생 감소와 체계적인 질 관리 시스템의 부재에 주목하여 일반대학원의 주요 문제를 분석하고 이를 개선하기 위한 방안과 질 관리 체계를 제시하고자 하였다. 문헌 분석과 통계자료 검토를 통해 일반대학원의 현황을 파악하고, 정체성 혼재, 신입생 충원율 저조, 중도탈락률 증가, 외국인 유학생 증가와 유치 경쟁 심화, 열악한 연구 환경, 진로 연계 부족, 질 관리 체계 미비 등 핵심적인 문제점을 도출하였다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위한 방안으로는 일반대학원의 정체성 재정립, 전담 진로지원센터 설치 및 운영, 외국인 유학생 지원 체계 강화 등을 제안하였다. 아울러, 질 관리 체계 강화를 위한 구체적인 실행 전략으로는 학사 운영 및 행정 시스템의 지침 표준화, 대학정보공시 관리의 체계화, 구성원 참여 기반의 내부 환류 시스템 구축, 학습성과 중심의 교육 질 평가지표개발, 국가 수준의 질 인증제도 도입 및 제도화 등을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This study aims to analyze the key challenges faced by general graduate schools in Korea—particularly the decline in student enrollment and the absence of a systematic quality assurance framework—and to propose improvement strategies and a structured quality management system. Through literature review and analysis of statistical data, this study identified critical issues such as the ambiguity of institutional identity, low enrollment rates of new students, rising dropout rates, intensified competition in attracting international students, inadequate research environments, insufficient career development support, and the lack of a comprehensive quality management system. To address these challenges, the study suggests several strategic measures, including reestablishing the identity of general graduate schools, operating dedicated career support centers, and strengthening support systems for international students. Furthermore, it proposes concrete execution strategies to enhance quality assurance, such as standardizing academic and administrative guidelines, improving the management of higher education information disclosure, building an internal quality feedback system based on stakeholder participation, developing learning outcome-based evaluation indicators, and institutionalizing a national-level quality accreditation system.
