국문 초록

이 연구는 조선 초기 유학자 정도전의 배불론 사상을 중심으로 그의 성리학 교육사상을 탐구하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 고려 말기 불교의 폐해로 인한 사회적 갈등 속에서 유학이 국가 통치이념으로 자리 잡은 과정에서, 정도전은 성리학을 이론적 기초로 불교를 비판하며 교육을 통한 사회 개혁을 주장하였다. 정도전은 불교의 윤회설과 인과설을 비판하며, ‘기질 변화’(氣質變化)를 통한 인간 개선을 교육의 핵심 이념으로 제시하였다. 그는 교육 목표를 ‘명인륜’(明人倫)으로 설정하여 삼강오륜을 기반으로 한 도덕적 인재와 국가 통치 인력을 양성해야 한다고 강조하였고, 교육 내용으로는 <사서> <오경> 등 유가 경전을 중심으로 인(仁)과 의(義)를 강조하였다. 또한 ‘내경 외의 (內敬外義)의 실천을 위해 거경(居敬), 극기내성(克己內省) 등의 수양법을 제안함으로써 내면의 도덕성 함양과 외적 행동 규범화를 통합하였다. 정도전의 성리학 교육사상은 불교 비판을 통해 유학의 우위를 확립함과 동시에, 조선 초기 관학 체계의 구축과 교육정책에 중대한 영향을 미쳤다. 그의 사상은 유학 기반의 교육을 통해 사회 질서를 회복하고 국가 발전을 도모하려는 실천적 목적을 담고 있으며, 조선시대 성리학 교육의 전개과정에서 중요한 이론적 토대를 제공하였다.

영문 초록

This study aims to explore Neo-Confucianism educational thoughts of Jeong Do-jeon, a Confucian scholar in the early Joseon Dynasty by focusing on the idea of anti-Buddhism. In the process of establishing Confucianism as a national governing ideology of Joseon dynasty, Jeong Do-jeon criticized Buddhism as a theoretical basis and insisted on social reform through education by Neo-Confucianism. Jeong Do-jeon criticized Buddhism's reincarnation theory and causal theory and suggested human improvement through change of "temperature" as a core ideology of education. He emphasized that the educational goal should be set as cultivating a fair human being with moral talents for national rebuilding. He also emphasized humanity and righteousness, focusing on Confucian books such as and . In addition, the cultivation of inner morality and the standardization of external behavior were integrated by proposing cultivation methods such as a respectful mind state(Geogyung) and self control(Geuki) for the practice of internal and external respect. Jeong Do-jeon's Neo-Confucianism educational ideology established the superiority of Confucianism through Buddhist criticism, and at the same time had a significant impact on the establishment of a government maintained academic system and educational policy in the early Joseon Dynasty. His ideas contained the practical purpose of restoring social order and promoting national development through confucianism based education and provided an important theoretical foundation for the development of Neo-Confucianism education in the Joseon Dynasty.
