국문 초록

This study aimed to examine ICU nurses’ knowledge, perceived barriers, and preventive practices related to pressure injury, and to explore the relationships among these variables. A descriptive correlational study was conducted with 137 ICU nurses from four general hospitals in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. Data were collected using structured questionnaires: the Pressure Ulcer Knowledge Assessment Tool (PUKAT 2.0), the Pressure Injury Prevention Barriers (PIPB) questionnaire, and the Questionnaire to Evaluate Nurses’ Adherence to Recommendations for Preventing Pressure Ulcers (QARPPU). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation, and multiple regression. The mean knowledge score was 12.70±3.50 (out of 25), indicating a moderate level, with the lowest scores in risk assessment. The average perceived barriers score was 27.03±11.99 (out of 75), with staff collaboration and organizational issues reported as major obstacles. Preventive practice scored relatively high at 73.04±8.06 (out of 90), especially in repositioning and pressure relief. Preventive practice was negatively correlated with motivational/prioritization barriers (r=-0.18, p=0.032) and knowledge-related barriers (r=-0.35, p<0.001). However, knowledge and practice were not significantly correlated (r=-0.11, p=0.214). Multiple regression showed perceived barriers significantly predicted practice (β=-0.20, p=0.019), though with low explanatory power (Adj. R²=0.037). ICU nurses demonstrated relatively high preventive practices despite moderate knowledge. Barriers, particularly related to motivation, prioritization, and institutional factors, negatively impacted performance. Enhancing pressure injury prevention requires ongoing, practical education and organizational support to reduce barriers and promote team-based care in ICUs.
