국문 초록

The purpose of this study was to analyze the meanings of paratexts including peritexts and epitexts in the picture book 『WAVE 』 to help readers enhance their visual literacy which is supposed to be very helpful in understanding the complicated meanings of the picture book. Peritexts in this picture book means expanding the narrative, providing information and attracting readers. By analyzing the epitexts in this picture book, it was found the meanings of this book are diverse and instill imagination. This study suggests that teachers and parents should be more interested in developing new and proper methods of reading books focusing on paratexts.
