음악교육철학에 대한 중등학교 음악교사의 인식

국문 초록

교과교육에 관한 교사의 철학적 인식은 교육에 대한 교사의 의지와 열정, 목표와 방향, 그리고 교과교육의 실행 과정과 결과에 상당한 영향을 줄 수 있다. 이에 본 연구는 중등 음악교사들이 음악교육에 대하여 어떠한 철학적 인식을 가지고 있는지 알아보고 학교 현장에서의 적용 실태를 분석하여 그 결과를 논의하는 데에 목표를 두었다. 이를 위해 음악교육철학과 관련된 다양한 문헌을 고찰하였고, 이를 바탕으로 음악교육철학 인식을 파악하기 위한 조사 도구를 개발하여 전국의 중·고등학교 음악교사를 대상으로 조사를 시행하였다. 총 110명의 교사가 응답하였고, 그 내용을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 대부분의 교사들은 음악교육철학에 높은 관심을 보였고, 교직 경력이 길어질수록 관심이 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 교사들은 자연주의와 실용주의, 엘리엇의 실천주의 음악교육철학에 대하여 이해를 더 잘하고 있었으며, 교사들이 추구하는 철학은 실용주의, 리머의 음악교육철학, 엘리엇의 음악교육철학의 순으로 나타났는데, 이들 철학을 적용하는 데에는 여러 가지 면에서 한계가 있는 것으로 드러났다. 교사들의 교육철학에 대한 깊은 관심과 이해 및 실천을 위해 교원 양성기관과 교육당국은 체계적인 교육과 지원을 제공할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

Teachers' philosophical perceptions of subject education can significantly influence their commitment and passion for teaching, the goals and direction of education, as well as the implementation process and outcomes of subject education. Accordingly, this study aims to examine the philosophical perceptions of secondary music teachers regarding music education and to analyze how these perceptions are applied in school settings. To achieve this, a comprehensive review of literature related to the philosophy of music education was conducted. Based on this review, a survey instrument was developed to assess teachers’ awareness of music education philosophy, and a nationwide survey was administered to middle and high school music teachers. A total of 110 teachers participated in the survey, and their responses were analyzed. The analysis revealed that most teachers showed a high level of interest in the philosophy of music education, and this interest tended to increase with longer teaching experience. Teachers demonstrated greater understanding of naturalism, pragmatism, and Elliott’s praxial philosophy of music education. The philosophies most pursued by teachers were, in order, pragmatism, Reimer’s philosophy of music education, and Elliott’s philosophy. However, various limitations were found in the application of these philosophies in practice. To foster deeper interest, understanding, and implementation of educational philosophy among teachers, systematic education and support from teacher training institutions and educational authorities are necessary.
