그림책 읽기에 기초한 다양한 가족 형태에 대한 교육이 유아의 가족에 대한 인식에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 다양한 가족 형태 관련 그림책 읽기 활동이 유아의 가족 형태 수용도, 가족개념에 대한 인식, 가족 형태에 대한 반편견적 인식에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 알아보는데 있다. 연구대상은 만 5세 유아 45명으로 실험집단은 22명, 통제집단 23명으로 구성되었다. 실험집단 유아 들에게는 다양한 가족 형태 구성원과 그들의 삶에 대한 이야기를 담고 있는 그림책 10권을 선정하 여 20회에 걸쳐 읽어주고 사후활동으로 토의활동과 역할극활동을 진행하였으며, 통제집단 유아들에 게는 생활주제 중심의 그림책을 읽어준 후 사후활동으로 토의활동과 역할극활동을 하였다. 연구결 과 실험집단 유아의 사후 가족 형태 수용도, 사후 가족 개념에 대한 인식, 사후 가족 형태에 대한 반편견 인식 검사 점수가 통제집단의 사후 점수보다 통계적으로 유의미한 수준에서 높은 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과는 다양한 가족 형태 관련 그림책 읽기 활동이 비전통적 가족에 대한 부정 적 인식 감소에 효과적인 교육 활동임을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of classroom activities involving storybooks on different types of families on young children's acceptance of family diversity, definition of family, and anti-bias perception towards non-traditional families. The participants were 45 young children in the Seoul area. Twenty-two children were assigned to the experimental group and twenty-three children were assigned to the control group. The children in the experimental group read 10 storybooks on different types of families whereas the children in the control group read the same number of books related to the theme of the regular curriculum. Both groups had discussions and role-plays as post-reading activities. The results show that the experimental group earned higher scores on the scales for both acceptance of family diversity and definition of family compared to the control group, and the differences in the scores were statistically significant. The results also show that the control group had lower scores on the scale for anti-bias than that of the experimental group, and the score difference was also statistically significant. These findings suggest that classroom activities using storybooks on different types of families are effective teaching strategies to reduce young children's negative perceptions towards non-traditional families.
