국문 초록

본 연구는 유아와 어머니가 함께하는 책읽기 시간의 책 선택권에 관한 어머니들의 실제적인 목 소리를 통해 유아의 책 선택권에 대한 어머니의 인식을 살펴보고자 실시되었다. 이를 위해 5～7세 유아기 자녀를 양육중인 어머니 10명을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시한 결과, 책 선택권에 대한 어머니들의 인식은 첫째, 전적으로 어머니가 주도하는 권리와, 둘째, 유아와 어머니가 동등하게 나눠 갖는 권리라는 두 가지로 대별되어 나타났다. 먼저, 책 선택권을 자신들의 것으로 보는 어머니들은 학습 목적으로 철저한 계획 하에 사용하는 권리, 독서환경을 조성하는 주담당자의 소유권, 도서 선별력이 부족한 유아들을 감독하는 수단, 분주한 육아의 일상에서 자연스레 정착된 자신의 몫으로 인식하였다. 반면, 책 선택권을 유아와 공동의 소유로 보는 어머니들은 신뢰와 존중을 바탕으로 한최소한의 개입, 독자로 성장해가는 유아들의 지원 방안, 유아 독서문화의 발전을 위한 기초적 권리로 인식하고 있었다.

영문 초록

This research was conducted to listen to the opinions of mothers in terms of the right of book choice in children-mother picturebook reading time and to examine the recognition of mothers regarding this right. In order to accomplish these aims, an in-depth interview was given to 10 mothers, raising young children ranging from 5 to 7 years of age. The results of this research shows that the realization concerning the right of book choice among mothers is divided into two main opinions: mothers ultimately lead the book choice and mothers and children share the book choice. First, mothers who regard the right of book choice as their own right believe it to be a right based on a thorough plan, a person’s single ownership of the reading environment, a means of monitoring young children who lack book selection ability and work naturally established part of a busy daily life raising young children. On the other hand, mothers who consider the right of book choice as joint ownership between young children and mothers appreciated it as a minimal intervention based on belief and respect, and a means of supporting young children who are developing readers and as a basic right for improvement.
