중국 유동아동(流動兒童) 어머니의 양육경험에 관한 질적 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 중국 유동아동 어머니의 양육경험을 심층적으로 이해하는 것이다. 연구참여자는 한단시(邯郸市)에 거주하는 유동아동 어머니 7명이다. 연구자는 2022년 2월부터 2022년 9월까지 연구참여자들의 일상생활에 참여하여 관찰하고 면담을 하여 자료를 수집하였다. 반복적으로 전사자료를 읽고 유사점과 패턴을 찾아 부호화와 범주화를 하여 질적 분석을 하였다. 연구결과에 의하면, 연구참여자들은 자녀의 더 나은 삶을 위해 도시로의 이주를 선택하였으며, 도시 양육문화를 토대로 자녀 돌봄을 수행하기 위해 시간제 일자리로 이직을 하였다. 연구참여자들은 농촌 양육문화에서 자녀의 독립성 함양을 높이 평가하였으며 이를 실천에 옮기고 있었고, 자녀가 학교에 적응하도록 표준어를 지도하고 높은 문턱의 제도권 교육에 진입하기 위해 부단히 노력하고 있었다. 본 연구 결과는, 유동아동 어머니가 자녀 양육에 대한 열의를 갖고 있음을 시사한다. 또한, 유동아동에게 평등한 교육 기회가 주어지도록 호적제도와 교육제도가 개선될 필요가 있음을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this research was to understand the parenting experience of mothers from migrant children's families in China. The study participants were seven mothers of migrant children living in Handan City. The researcher took part in the daily lives of the participants, by observing and interviewing them. A qualitative analysis was conducted by repeatedly reading, coding and categorizing the transcription data. The results of this research are as follows. First, the participants brought their children to receive high-quality urban education and increase the possibility of a better life for their children. Second, after bringing their children to the city, the participants adjusted their daily lives to practice the urban parenting model focusing on childcare. The participants changed to part-time jobs to take care of their children. Third, the participants chose to practice the advantages of the rural parenting model which strengthens their children’s independence, while trying to teach children the standard language necessary for their academic achievement and social relationships. Lastly, the participants had difficulties in applying for public kindergartens due to the Chinese household registration system. These results imply that mothers of migrant children were highly enthusiastic about their children's education and success. These results also imply that it is necessary to improve the Chinese household registration system and the educational policies to provide equal educational opportunities to migrant children.
