한국 전래동화에 나타난 거짓말의 양상

국문 초록

본 연구는 거짓말 주제 전래동화 속 거짓말의 양상을 분석한 연구이다. 전래동화의 주요 독자가 아동이며, 전래동화의 교육적 효과를 고려할 때, 유아교육현장에서는 전래동화 속 거짓말의 도덕적 문제를 다룰 필요가 있다. 이를 위해 거짓말 주제 전래동화 26편을 선정하여 거짓말을 하는 등장인물들의 관계, 거짓말의 유형, 거짓말의 동기와 결과 등으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과 등장인물들 간 대립적 인물 구도가 다수로 나타났는데, 구체적으로 지위와 권력이 있는 자와 없는 자, 초자연적인 존재(물건)와 사람, 힘센 동물과 약한 동물(사람)의 대립 구도로 나타났다. 전래동화 속 거짓말의 유형과 동기는 방어적(자신 보호와 타인 보호), 소유적(혼인, 부, 지위, 먹을 것), 공격적(골탕 먹이기, 목숨 뺏기) 등으로 분석되었다. 전래동화 속 거짓말의 동기에 따른 결과에서 방어적 거짓말은 성공적인 결말을 보였고, 소유적 유형은 혼인(한 편 제외)과 먹을 것을 추구하는 동기는 성공적이었으나, 부나 지위의 동기는 목적을 이루는데 실패하였다. 공격적 유형에서 골탕 먹이기는 모두 성공하였으나, 목숨을 뺏는 것은 모두 실패로 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과를 바탕으로 유아교육 현장에서 전래동화 속 거짓말을 다룰 때 그림책 읽기 후 이야기나누기를 통해 거짓말에 대한 동기와 유형파악, 문제해결을 위한 대안 찾기, 거짓말의 도덕적 딜레마를 유아들과 함께 생각해 볼 것을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed the various aspects of lies in traditional fairy tales whose subject was lies. The main readers of traditional fairy tales are children, and considering the educational effect of traditional fairy tales, it is necessary to deal with the moral problem of lies in traditional fairy tales in the field of early childhood education. For this purpose, 26 traditional fairy tales with the theme of lies were selected and analyzed in terms of the relationship between the characters who lie, the types of lies, and the motives and consequences of lies. As a result of the analysis, the characters appeared to have many conflicting character compositions, specifically, conflicting compositions between those with status and power and those without, supernatural beings and people, and strong animals and weak animals (people). The types and motives of lying in traditional fairy tales were analyzed as defensive (protecting oneself and others), possessive (marriage, wealth, status, food), and aggressive (embarrassing and teasing, stealing one's life). As a result of the motive of lying in the traditional fairy tale, the defensive lie showed a successful ending. In the possessive type, the motive of seeking marriage (except for one) and food was successful, but the motive of wealth or status failed to achieve the goals. In the aggressive type, embarrassing and teasing others were successful, but taking lives was a failure. Based on these results, it is important to consider some issues when dealing with lies in traditional fairy tales in early childhood education. Thus, this study suggests sharing stories with children that identify the motivation and type of lying, find alternatives to solve problems, and think about the moral dilemma of lying with children after reading the picture books.
