국문 초록

이 글의 목적은 함린의 교육인식론을 논의의 발판으로 삼아 불교의 인식론을 고찰한 후, 새로운 인식론적 논의를 이끌어내는 데에 있다. 말하자면, 함린의 인식론을 가교로 하여 칸트의 선험적 관념론 또는 형이상학적 인식론과 유사한 불교의 인식론을 살펴봄으로써, 그 이후의 ‘인식론적 논의’가 무엇일지 살펴보았다. 그리하여 이 글에서 도출된 잠정적(시론적) 결론은, 우리의 인식은 ‘수행’ 또는 ‘교육’과 별개로 이루어질 수 없으며, 한편으로 이러한 새로운 인식론, 즉 수행론적 또는 교육적 인식론은 ‘메타프락시스적 인식론’으로 명명될 수도 있고, 전형적으로 ‘메타프락시스적 사고’에 의해 뒷받침되는 인식론이 될 수 있을 것이라는 점을 밝혀 보았다. 따라서 본 연구에 의하면, 우리의 사고 또는 인식은 ‘수행’과 별개로 논의될 수 없으며, 아니 오히려 수행(교육)과 별개로 논의되는 인식론은 ‘온전한 인식론’으로서 미달할 수밖에 없다는 점을 시사한다고 말할 수 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this article is to draw a new epistemological discussion after examining Buddhist epistemology using Hamlyn’s educational epistemology as a stepping stone for discussion. In other words, by examining the epistemology of Buddhism similar to Kant’s a priori or metaphysical epistemology, we looked at what the ‘epistemological discussion’ would be after that. Thus, the tentative (theological) conclusion derived from this article was found that our perception could not be made separately from ‘self-discipline’ or ‘education’, while this new epistemology (self-discipline or metapraxic epistemology) could be named ‘educational epistemology’ and typically supported by ‘metapraxic thinking’. Therefore, according to this study, it can be said that our thinking or perception cannot be discussed separately from self-discipline, but rather, the perception discussed separately from self-discipline(education) is inevitably insufficient as a complete epistemology.
