정전협정 이후 부산음악사회의 현실과 지향

국문 초록

정전협정 이후부터 1960년대까지 부산음악사회는 환도 이후 피란음악인의 귀환으로 생겨난 공백 속에서 새로운 질서를 구축해 나갔다. 해방기 음악단체의 계승과 재편, 새로운 단체의 창설을 통해 관현악, 실내악, 합창, 창작 등 다양한 음악활동을 전개했다. 또한 음악고등교육의 제도화가 본격화되는 한편 사설 음악교육이 확산되면서 후속세대 양성이 폭넓게 이루어졌다. 이 시기 부산음악사회의 인적 구성은 복합적인 양상을 띠었다. 부산 토박이 또는 해방기에 정주(定住)한 음악인, 환도 이후에도 잔류하거나 새롭게 전입한 음악인, 후속세대 음악인이 어우러져 다층적인 구조를 이루었다. 여기에 더해 부산음악인의 출향과 잔류했던 외지 음악인의 귀향이 꾸준히 이어졌고, 음악활동이나 교육활동을 목적으로 한 외지 음악인의 새로운 유입도 지속적으로 이루어졌다. 또한 정규 공연장 설치를 열망하던 상황에서 다방, 학교 강당, 예식장, 문화회관 등 대안적 음악공간이 운영되면서 음악 향유층이 점차 확대되었다. 그러나 음악 전문매체의 부재와 후속세대 음악인의 지역 이탈, 해방기 부산음악사회가 지녔던 개방성 및 확장성의 상실 등의 측면에서 한계 또한 내포하고 있었다. 본 연구는 정전협정 이후부터 1960년대 부산음악사회의 성과와 한계를 종합적으로 검토했다. 이를 통해 이 시기를 오늘날까지 이어지는 부산음악사회의 제도적 기반을 마련한 시기로 재조명할 수 있었으며, 1970년대 이후 부산음악사회를 이해하기 위한 기초를 마련할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

From the Korean Armistice of 1953 through the 1960s, the Busan music community built a new order amidst the void left by the repatriation of wartime musicians who had returned to Seoul after the government’s relocation. Music groups not only carried on and reorganized those formed during the Liberation period but also founded new groups, thereby developing a wide range of activities in orchestral, chamber, choral, and creative music. At the same time, the institutionalization of higher music education advanced in earnest, while the spread of private music instruction fostered the training of younger generations on a broad scale. The human composition of the Busan music community during this period exhibited a complex character. Native Busan musicians and those who had settled in the city during the Liberation period were joined by musicians who remained in Busan after the government’s return to Seoul, newcomers who relocated to Busan, and younger generations, together forming a multilayered structure. Added to this were the continual departures of Busan musicians to other regions, the return of non-local musicians who had once stayed in Busan, and the steady influx of outside musicians seeking opportunities for performance and education. Meanwhile, in the absence of a regular concert hall, cafés, school auditoriums, wedding halls, and cultural centers functioned as alternative music spaces, contributing to the expansion of music audiences. Yet the Busan music community of this period also contained significant limitations, including the absence of professional music media, the outflow of younger generations to other regions, and the loss of the openness and expansiveness that had characterized the music scene during the Liberation period. This study has examined both the achievements and the limitations of the Busan music community from the Armistice through the 1960s. In doing so, it has reinterpreted this period as one in which the institutional foundations of the Busan music community were established—foundations that have continued into the present—and has laid the groundwork for understanding the trajectory of the Busan music community after the 1970s.
